Show Open House for for- Resident Fetes Fetes' t f t Birthday T The e daughters of Pauline Pauline Hazelbush entertained at an open house hOlise h honoring their mother on her ber birthday Friday afternoon Hostesses for the affair were were Ruby Lea Toles Totes Leora Hazelbush Polly pony HaZelbush and Lillian Henderson Hender Hender- son SETTING for the open house was the Charles Henderson home More than friends called during the afternoon to bring birthday wishes to the popular Vernal matron Mrs Hazelbush greeted ber her guests in hi a green ereen dress of brocaded taffeta and lace tace complimented by jade jewelery jewelery jewelery jewel- jewel ery and a double orchid corsage cor cor- sage THE TEA table was done with white linen and silver service ser ser- vice The centerpiece was a spring bouquet of daisies tulips heather and pussy willows wil wil- lows The candles and napkins napkin carried out the spring theme in m green and yellow The ladies who were invited to pour during the afternoon were Mrs Delbert Casada Amelia Manker Mrs Dean Voorhies Mrs George Roth and Ellen Keay ASSISTING the the hostesses d during the aft afternoon were two of cf Mrs Irs Hazelbush's granddaughters granddaughters grand grand- daughters Connie and Colleen Hazelbush Pauline Hazelbush was born in Atlantic Iowa March 7 1889 She moved to Western Colorado In 1904 where she met and married Charles Turner Turn Turn- er She moved as a bride to to where she was to spend much of her life liCe as a ranchers rancher's wife WHEN SHE first moved to the Willow Creek area she was the only white woman within a radius of miles and had to make many adjustments adjustments adjustments ad ad- from an eastern girl to a pioneer woman Mr Turner died in 1918 and left Pauline a young widow with two daughters For Fora a time she lived away from the Book Cliff Mountains and the cattle country but in m 1920 she married Walter Dutch Hazelbush and five years later returned to Willow WillowCreek WillowCreek WillowCreek Creek and purchased another cattle ranch Here they raised two boys and four girls In 1935 the began to bring their family to Vernal each school year They moved to In 1940 MRS HAZELBUSH has been beena a widow since Mr Hazelbush's death in 1959 She maintains her own house and still drives her car where ever she wants She has many activities and interests and does much of her own sewing She also sews for her children and grandchildren grandchildren grand grandchildren children Pauline is an active member of the Congregational Ladles Ladies Aid P PEO E 0 Sisterhood Eastern Eastern East ern Star American Legion Auxiliary Ester Club and The Sewing Club SHE IS also a Gold Star Mother having lost a son Robert Robert Robert Rob Rob- ert Hazelbush on Luzon in the during World War II She has another son Charles Charles Charles Char Char- les Hazelbush and four daughters daughters daughters daugh daugh- Louise Filipelli Reno Nevada Lillian Henderson Vernal Ruby Lea Toles and Polly Rangely Colorado Colo Colo- rado She has 12 grandchildren grandchild grandchild- ren and 11 great great grandchild grandchild grandchildren ren |
