Convening late last week in Salt Lake City, the water storage commission was of the opinion that the debt could be cleared if the proper steps were taken, and while the state would lose a considerable amount of funds, they would be reimbursed to some extent on the debt. No official action has been taken, it was reported, future moves pending the action of the state chief executive. Owes State Sum Under the present arrangement, the Conservation District here owes the state approximately $140,000. The land board has agreed to cancel the entire debt upon the payment of 0 cash and while the state would lose the major portion of the debt, the entire amount would not be entirely lost. With the district having been in financial straits for the last few years, it is proposed to secure a federal loan to pay off the states debt and also money due private interests as well as state and private bondholders. Sanpete Interested Some controversy was experienced a short time ago when water users of Sanpete county signified their intentions of diverting water rights for this section, to their own usage. With this program however, it is expected that a much more pleasing appearance will be offered. Decorate Streets Price city is expected to be called upon for street and streetlight decorations, it was made known. Scored At Close Journeying to the central state city, Carbon rammed and battered through three quarters of the toughest competition she had been up against this year, with the exception of the Grand Junction team, and then in the last three minutes of play, pushed over the lone score of the game. Springville was said to have presented such a stiff opposition that the Carbon machine had difficulty in making any decisive thrust and finally resorted to the air for the yardage gains. Used Passes Opened by pass plays, Carbon forced her opponents back to within scoring distance and then after two more plays, Leslie Reid, local half plunged through the line to cross the goal. Hawley Burgess converted the extra point. Both squads lined up again, but it was too late in the game for the Springville unit to smash any long gains and the final gun sounded leaving Carbon on top.
