In fact, during his time at the Chapman Branch on Salt Lakes west side, he worked almost exclusively with the childrens department, he recalls. MR. GIACOMA is the first branch librarian for the Farmington facility that also serves as headquarters for y Davis systhe tem. The duties have been divided between several staffers previously, As we expand in service and there is an increase in patrons there was need for someone actually with authority over the public service facilities and to organize them. Pete Giacoma, new Farmington branch librarian, looks through one of many childrens books available for patron use. reading for the youngster as well as parent.' three-librar- STRESSING THE theme of working with children, he said, Wed like to work with children as they develop over long periods of time, to see them in their reading pattern and help them with a lot of individualized attention. In addition to the story hours he would like to see reading lists prepared as "guides to help parents in LOOKING FOR parental support Mr. Giacoma continued, Parents coming to programs would be a real plus. Ideally we would like to do hands-o- n activities but were limited pretty much to story time at Farmington. Auditoriums are located in the two branch libraries allowing such activities. IN TERMS of adult services, as the community starts expanding, since this is the reference library for the whole system, I would like to strengthen the business resources things that businesses need reference services, not just for individuals but groups. Noting collection expansion is kind of difficult in the cur- - rent facility (with plans for a new Layton headquarters) he added, Were going to try for maximum service. This library will be really positive about the services we offer and try to bring services to the people and make them aware." DOUGLAS RIVETTE MR.
