Show RICHFIELD AND MONROE exchange of singers and speakers many attend ward services to hear good musical programs and excellent excelle nf addresses last sunday will long be remembered by the people of monroe and the people of the richfield first ward on that day these tv two 0 wards exchanged speakers and choirs for the afternoon and the arrangement succeeded in drawing to meeting people who had not attended church services for many months the monroe choir and some of their friends arrived in richfield on sunday morning and many of them attended the sunday school at the academy hall when this was over the first ward people took them in tow and distributed them around the ward members where they were acre given dinner and otherwise entertained until meeting time the house was crowded with ith an expectant audience at 2 it is well known that monroe boasts considerable sid erable musical talent and the singing v w as the attraction for the audience the s services e arvi e es were in charge of jas P P poulsen 0 u isen and bert ence enca the following is the program of musical numbers rendered by the choir under the direction of thomas ranson hymn come we that love the lord hymn where V here the 6 oice of f friendships heard sacramental hymn reverently and meekly solo 0 love divine mattie collings solo oh eyes that are weary francis ranson anthem heards hear us 0 father 11 these numbers were x ere all rendered in splendid manner and nd it is doubtful if better music was eer heard in ward services in richfield the monroe singers will always be sure eure of a welcome when they visit here again the speaker accompanying the singers were elders constant and august brown the former talked of the dream of and its import and the latter spoke of early day experiences in utah and the many lessons the hardships taught the people the services were exceedingly interesting and the visitors viere acre enuch appreciated when the services were over the visitors were treated to ice cream and cake by the bishopric and ward clerk of the first ward this feature of the days entertainment was as we wel come as it was wag unexpected ard and the visitors were loud in their praise of the very graceful treatment accorded them AT MONROE the first ward choir and a host of their friends and admirers were at monroe in time for sunday school they met at the ward meeting house nt at 8 and all left in a body monroe was as reached on schedule time and the visiting choir swelled the sunday school to splendid proportions committees saw to it that no member or was neglected and all were provided with places to stop and given dinner the meeting house nas as cr crowded oded to its capacity and the singing and speak ng ing of the visitors was well ell north the effort of attending church on such a sultry afternoon the program rendered by the choir was as fol follows loNs dmn should dou ou teel feel inclined I 1 I 1 to censure anthem corne come unto me sacramental hi uin inn reverently and meekly solo lead me saviour lest I 1 stray mrs bird anthem the lord is my rock these numbers under the dirle direction tion of mrs lizzie hansen were all well rendered and were a beautiful and appropriate prop setting to the services the rhe expression from the people was all favorable to the singers and the meeting ingras was much enjoyed the speakers vi were ere axel nielsen and joserh ogden and their remarks were listened to with attention the choir numbered forty five and enough visitors made the trip to s well swell the number to sixty who attended from richfield the choir members and visitors were high in their praise of the treatment ent accorded them anddore andr exchanges of this nature will be arranged for |
