I guess the weather is on everyone's mind, it looks bad for the folks up north. Tomorrow (Monday) is suppose to bring a lot of rain, threaten to over flow all of the rivers in the North. The Sevier near Hatch made the news as one of the rivers overrunning its banks, which has already happened and the spring off hasn't even started. Good news in the Education Dept. in Panguitch,. Several college students are graduating this month. Jerica Owens Feltner, daughter of David and Lorraine Owens, graduated from Dixie State College with an elementary education teacher Certification Degree. Jerica finished up her education with two children and with all of her energy she will make an excellent elementary teacher. Jennifer Perkins, graduated from the College of Saint Mary with a Bachelors in Rehabilitation Therapy. Jennifer Perkins, is the daughter of Danny and Michelle Perkins. Those of you that followed girl's basketball will remember Jennifer's three point shooting, and winning many a game with her outside shots. Well she parlayed her shot into a four year education, at three different schools. With her very high GPA in high school, she was academic all-state in volleyball, basketball and track. Jennifer is pursing a Masters in Occupational Therapy Degree and anticipates completing her graduate studies by 2012. Justin Bateman has graduated from the University of Southern Utah, with a degree in Parks and Recreation. Justin is the Son of Richard and Cheryl Church and also a basketball player at PHS and served a mission before completing his Degree. Justin is going to Utah State to start into his Master Program. Skye Marshall graduated from the University Utah, with a degree in Exercise Physiology and Bio Mechanics. Skye is the Son of Steve and Marilyn Marshall and was the State Wrestling Champion. There wasn't much that Skye couldn't do he played a mean fiddle and excelled in the class room. Skye was one of 5,700 that graduated from the U this year. Hopefully Halie Sawyer who graduated in the winter class, decided to receive her diploma at the Graduation ceremony. The bus left the PHS parking lot at 6:30 am. Now who would get up that early to go to a Multi Media Fair at UVU? Who else but the students enrolled in Ms.Caine's Multimedia and Digital photography classes? The bus arrived at 9:30 am at UVU, with 13 students: : Tom Adams, Sierra Allen, Meagan Fensler, Austin and Emma Jack, Wyatt Moore, Maria Zubia, Natalie Birch, Tasha Barney, Kendra Sawyer, Alex Ricketts, Kayla Wilson, and Karen Salcido Classes attended: "App Inventor — Creating Android Apps", "Your Future in IT", "A Peek Inside the Video Game Industry" by Disney, "Student Portfolios — Market Yourself in Digital Media", and "OHV video Contest". Competition also included: Digital Photography, Digital Videos, Web site Design, Audios, and 2D & 3D Animation. Lunch of Pizza, cookies and a drink were in the Auditorium followed by a guest speaker who explained how he got a job creating "video games". Several students were interested in the "gaming" side of computer technology so this speaker presented some valuable information. The Award ceremony followed. Students had the opportunity to "test" on several related computer programs as well competing in cornputer related projects. Panguitch students came away with insight into what the completion is all about in the technology field and the determination to be competitive next year. Scipio has a great "zoo" so needless to say, up and back stops were made here to take pictures of the Zebra, Llamas, baby goats, chicken, ducks, and lambs. We got back a little late from UVU so I didn't get to see the Shriner's One Ring Circus. I heard it was so good that Mrs. Rember is going to try and bring it back next year. Some time it takes an appearance by an entertainment groups to get the word out about it. The Gem Theater has a new sign on the front; it is getting close to being ready and will open on may 28th Saturday. They are training the young people that will working there this summer. You are in for a treat with their home made ice cream. Mayor Lori Talbot will cut the ribbon at the ribbon cutting ceremony. Entertainment, renovation movies, and a tour of the old theatre is in store for those who attend. I had a quick walk through and I don't think they have over looked anything. Shane Anderson's resident has a new addition and it is sure looking nice.
