Show Page The Ogden Valley news Volume XIV Issue XVII November 15, 2007 Announcements Births Anniversaries David and Cheryle Allen & big brother Tavin Cash Allen formerly of Huntsville welcomes new son and brother “Chase David Allen.” Chase was born October 1, 2007. He weighed 8lbs. 4 ozs., and was 20½ inches long. Proud grandparents are Brett and Laurie Allen of Huntsville, and Lester and Cindy Anderson of Fountain Green. Big brother Tavin with new baby brother Chase Allen. Anniversaries Shirley and Roger Jenkins Ella Baker Lindsay Ella Lythgoe Baker Lindsay, 94, died at her home of cancer on Saturday, November 3, 2007. She was born July 17, 1913 in Ogden, a daughter of Edward and Ella Lindsay Mary Johnson Lythgoe. She was a lifelong resident of Ogden and attended Ogden City Schools. On February 18, 1934, she married Leo E. Baker in Ogden. Together they had five children—one daughter and four sons. Leo passed away November 23, 1987. Ella married John J. Lindsay on January 19, 1989. He was the light of her life. John had seven children he brought into the marriage, lots of grandchildren, and great-grandchildren—all of whom she loved dearly. They had over 18 wonderful years together. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in many callings including Relief Society, Primary, Cub Scouts, and as a Visiting Teacher for 63 years. Ella was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She loved making afghans and comforters for her children and grandchildren. The Lord blessed Ella with a long Roger Lee and Shirley S. Jenkins of Huntsville celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a family dinner on November 3 at Maddox Ranch House Restaurant in Perry. They were married on November 1, 1957 in Ogden. Their vows were later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on December 2, 1958. Born on April 7, 1930 in Rawlins, Wyoming to Alice and Lawrence Jenkins, he is an identical twin and the oldest of ten children. He grew up in Wyoming and Idaho where he graduated from Fruitland High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War from Shirley and Roger Jenkins 1949 to 1951. He worked 39 years as a trainman for the Union Pacific Railroad. He has held numerous jobs in the LDS Church. His interests include his family, ELECTION cont. from page 1 church, and work. Born on September 3, 1930 in Huntsville to Loney and Vera Stoker, she is the fourth Huntsville Town, 285 cast a ballot in this of six children. Surviving are her husband of Ogden; children Gayla (Don) Donaldson, Florence, OR; Boyd (Gaylene) Baker, Ogden; Steven (Linda) Baker, Lava Hot Springs, ID; Lex Baker, Ogden; Curtis Baker, Ogden Canyon; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; her stepchildren and their grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all whom she loved with all her heart. Funeral services were held Friday at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., Utah. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road. Ernest John Bouwhuis, 91, died October 23, 2007. James Edward Lee, 28, died October 25, 2007. Jesse Clausse McDaniel, 28, died October 31, 2007. Ray Bailey Barker, 86, died November 4, 2007. Huntsville Town was first incorporated in 1903. With “much rejoicing,” and by vote of the same people who initially sought incorporation, the population voted again to divest the municipality on November 2, 1909. The town was again incorporated on March 10, 1924 in an effort to secure an up-to-date water system through a bond issue.
