Show The Gygi Family Did It! I I I t 1ft I Ellie Haralambakou Is Here As A Gift From Her Family was able to visit her aunts grave and plant flowers on it. She also visited the Greek Church there. Most of the activities she has participated in here have been church functions. The Greek Festival will be held in September and the entire family helped bake pastries for it, yes, more baking! She has attended several Greek weddings and has enjoyed them all. She has also attended several senior citizen parties at church and even won a prize for her dancing and singing. (Greek, of course! ) She visited Flaming Gorge and proved to be an avid fisherman. She We made it! Ellie is here from Greece and enjoying every minute of her visit! Were the excited words coming from Ellies family here. Ellie is here through the concentrated efforts of many people. Her family here in America made and sold Greek pastries to earn enough money for Ellie to visit here. They baked and sold and baked and sold. And shes here! Ellie is Ellie Haralambakou and is the cousin of Bella Gygi. Bellas mother and Ellie's mother were sisters. And one proud niece, and one of the cooks, is Micky Maritsas, Bella's daughter. 'H Ka . She is from Mystra, Sparta, Greece, and is staying with her cousin, Vasiliki Gygi. Ellies family here in Salt Lake City and all her new friends welcome her to America. We love her very much. We wish her a safe journey home. The family of James H. In Greece, bananas are $2 a pound, so shes eating lots of them here. When asked what she didnt like about America, Ellie says that she loves everything about it! The people here have proved to be so friendly and she loves and greets everyone she meets. She has met several people here who have relatives living near her village so she will even meet a few new friends when she returns home. Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Ted Inkley Guests are being invited to call between the hours of 6 and 9 in the evening. The new Mr. and Mrs. Inkley request that no gifts be given. The two are both long time residents of the new West Valley City. Mr. Inkley has lived in that area for over 73 years and raised his family there. The new Mrs. Inkley was born in Granger and has spent most of her life in that area. She has lived in many of the western states throughout her life but Granger has always been her home base. They will continue to make their home in West Valley City. Senior Citizens Hold Conference The Governors Conference on Aging is being scheduled for Sept. 10 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at the Salt Palace exhibit hall. The conference will include lunch and Governor Matheson will speak on major topics of interest that were raised during the across the state. An open house at the home of his daughter, Carol (Mrs. Ernest) Maples at 5519 Paulette Ave. in West Valley will Ibe r 2held from the hours of to 6 p.m. Mr. Roderick, the eldest of 15 children, was Iborn in 1900 in the little Itown of Samaria, Idaho farmed for many years with his parents, Elizabeth Hawkins and David Price Roderick. His nine surviving brothers and sisters are looking forward to spending this special day with him. As a young man, Elmer was very slight in build but loved to ride and break horses. At the youthful age of 16 he was challenged to break the meanest horse in the valley. The animal had never allowed anyone to ride him and had thrown all who even tried to get on his back. Nevertheless, Elmer accepted the challenge and did the impossible. Having accomplished that difficult task, Elmer gained a wide and popular reputation for breaking horse. He carries fond memories of those days. In September of 1921 Elmer married Genesee LaWayne Dawson in the Logan LDS Temple and a year later moved his family to Salt Lake where he was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad. He retired in 1966, after 45 years of service, which included 34 years as a car inspector foreman.
