Members of the CarbonEmery Area Advisory Board include: David Hinkins, president of Industrial Electric; Greg Killpack, general manager of Emery Telephone; Kent B. Wilson, owner of among others. As a bank we recognize that our success has been, and will continue to be, tied to the success of the communities in which we operate, said Heppler. In an effort to determine how we can best serve each of the communities in which we have operations, we meet regularly with our local area advisory board members. These prominent local residents provide us insight into what is happening in their community and how Zions Bank can help to meet venous community needs and contribute to the areas continued success. One of the attributes that distinguishes Zions Bank from other banks is our tradition of service to our communities, said Anderson. We are committed to doing our part for the communities of Carbon and Emery Counties. This commitment is not only evidenced by our regular meetings with the local advisory board, it is also demonstrated by the local authority given to local Zions Bank managers, he B-- K Williams, Barbara Kay and Charles Jorgenson, Tommy Joseph and Shirley Williams; 21 grandchildren, 29 greatgrandchildren and one Our devoted, loving, caring, mother, grandmother and aunt Ethel Verna Williams, age 82, passed away April 28, 1999 in a Murray hospital. Jeff Thredgold, economic consultant to Zions Bank, also provided an economic outlook for the area. A major issue in the CarbonEmery area is that of weak prices for most commodities, including agricultural and natural resource products, says Thredgold. The primary problem is excessive global production and weak global demand. The areas unemployment rate of 7.0 percent is up from its level of 6.0 percent a year ago. One other measure of business activity - Gross Taxable Sales - was up 18 percent from one year ago Thredgold notes that the Utah economy as a whole should experience modest growth over the balance of 1999, even as global developments now taking shape suggest a rebound to somewhat more impressive growth in 2000 and beyond. This moderate Utah growth pace, the continuation of a trend that began during 1998s second half, follows the most impressive job growth period in Utahs history. Even as Utahs growth pace slows, the states economy should remain one of the nations 10 stronges, Thredgold said. 10-ye- ar Ethel Williams AVON service commitment with Advisory Board Family will be at Mitchells continued.
