snake valley mining ining tl district elect a recorder and establish bylaws by laws for 1 or the government of suid district A committee consisting r of A 0 jewell hugh knepper and ni jarvis were appointed to draft bylaws by laws the follo following whim V laws having been presented by the committee were acted upon seriatim mid adopted by the ine meeting eting article 1 this district to be known as snake valley imming district to include that portion of territory situated in the territory ot of utah county of beaver as follows commencing at the crossing of the reese river road from minersville Miners ville at snake creek running ra thence thirty miles west thence thirty miles north thence thirty miles east and thence to point of beginning begin beginning nin g article ad the extent of a claim on any mineral vein shall be two hundred feet along the lode with a width of one ane hundred feet on each side of the lode including all its ita lips dips spurs angles depths widths off shoots out droppings crop pings variations and all the minerals and other valuables therm therin contained and priority of location shall determine the ownership of all cross or other leads traversing ZD ground claimed under tinder these laws the discoverer and locator of a lead shall be entitled to one claim additional for discovery article ad no person shall hold more than one claim by loc location tion on an any y one vein vein by purchase any number of claims may be held ead article ath all locations shall I 1 be made by companies and measured on a horizontal line each companas comp anys location to be desi designated bated and its extent fully besci described abed article ath eich each E ich company must do one faithful days work on their claim in each month after the same shall have been located one year on a failure to do so the claim or claims will be subject to relocation location re by any other person provided however that it if the e kompany are arc prevented from working by local insurrection or rebellion at a failure hilure todo to do so will not forfeit their cl claims ainis article eth work done or caused tobe zone done by the owners in any tunnel ent cut shaft water ditch or privilege in good faith for the benl benefit afflit of any any claim shall be considered as done on the claim owned by said person or company article fth all claims shall be recorded within ten days after a notice of location shall have bave been posted thereon but a notice filed for record in the recorder s office shall be conEd considered dered in all cases equivalent to a record article ath claims on gold surface diggings shall beeach be each two hundred feet square article fth locators on veins of coal or iron shall be entitled to five hundred feet for each location and five hundred feet addia addit additional addition ional ul for discovery and in all other respects shall be subject to and enjoy all the privileges and immunities of these laws article all locations made on water for mining ditch mill privileges or for irrigation za purposes shall bo be respected and the same be recorded in the book or books of the strict recorder and shall in all other acts be subject to and enjoy all the privileges and immunities of these laws article litti whenever three hundred dollars shall have been expended upon the claims befany f any company in this district the ground so claimed by said company shall be deemed as belonging 0 in fee to the owners and their me aee agas and the same shall not be subject to relo relocation dation by other parties ever after except by an acknowledged abandonment of the ground by the company which shall be so construed after said ground shall have halve isia idle for one year and except in cases where ca claims aims are in ir litigation article all voters at meetings to t regulate mining interests shall be claim own oft in this thia district article S all meetings for the purpose of election or eba changing nging these laws must be called by posting written notices in at t least st three public places in the di district or ly by pub lia biag the same in some newspaper printed in the territory said aid publication to be made by the recorder in in either case during PA at let least twenty days previous to such meeting stating the object thereof article l alth there shall bo be a chosen from among the miners of the district who shall hold his office during daring a term of year unless a successor shall be duly elected which can only be done by a majority qt of liast voters present at a meeting for purpose ae article it shall be the duty of the recorder to record all claims presented for that purpose provided that it shall not be lawful for him to record any in conflict with a prior location and aad he shall be entitled to receive a sum not exceeding one izellar alar for eh each separate sepa pate claim or company he shall endorse on all notices placed on file in his hid office the exact time of record it shall be his duty if required by to furnish each share holder with R certificate of his claim attested by the seal sa atil of his office for ewh of which he shall be on en titled to
