The girls of tne West Ward who had achieved in the LDS girls' pro gram, were honored Sunday eve ning, with Mildred Yardley in charge of the following program. remarks. Anona and Doris Smith; talk, Yvonne Smith; reading, Ruth Joseph; saxaphone solo, Elreta Bradshaw with Mary Warr playing accompaniment. The sing-in- s was under the direction of Catherine Miller with Ilia McAllis ter at the piano. The girls receiving individual awards were: Joyce McQuarrie, Joleen Deleuw, Owennie Miller Shirley Paice, LaVern Beaumont, Ellen Loback, Jessie Walker. Joan Morgan, Jane Harris, Mary Harris, Estelle Baker, Elreta Bradshaw, Lorna Ward, Nordine Stoney, Rob erta Muir, Ina Marie McQuarrie, Mary Warr', Yvonne Smith, Verona Denial, Joan Baker, Ann Harris, Nelda Harris and Doris Smith. One group award was made to 4 the girls in the group with Mildred Smith and Alda Neilson as leaders. This was the only group award in the stake. The Sun day School theme was "Pioneers," as follows: retold story, "The Lost Oxen" by Lila Terry; duet "Those Pioneers," by Nell Hutchings and Geneve Gillies, accompanied by Shirley Gillies; two retold stories about Beaver pioneers, "Aunt" Betsy Goodwin and Cedaressa C. Shepard, by Berniece Thompson. The Primary boys sang a song, accompanied by Ruth Willden. Vera Ashworth, preisdent, awarded certificates of graduation to 11 boys. Bishop A. J. Tell Gubler Field Executive present. Following the advancement of the colors, a demonstration was presented on "The Reason for Knots," with scoutmaster DeVere R. McAllister in charge and the following scouts participating: Allen Farnsworth, Kenneth Blackner, David Miller, Glade Merkley, and Joe Warr. Lewis Stewart. Milford, received his second class badge which was presented by R. E. Forrester, Scoutmaster of Milford. First Class badges were presented to the following by Camping Chairman, Arch Hopes: Howard Sherwood Duane Myers. Bobbie Wright, Ralph Allsop and Jimmy Klick, all of Milford. Star badges were presented by Scout Commissioner Carlyle F. Gronning to Kenneth Blackner and Glade Merkley, Beaver; . and to LaNae Lund, Farrell Fothering, ham, and Lamar Evajis, Milford. W. Tell Gubler, awarded life badges to Allen Farnsworth, Beaver and to Carlyle F. Gronning, Milford. A five year veteran award was made to Gale Farnsworth, Reaver and a fifteen year veteran award to R. E. Forrester, Milford. Merit Badges were presented by Scoutmaster McAllister to the following: Rudolph Neilson who received one; R. E. Forrester, 2; Vernon Hughes. 3; Duanye Loft house, 3; Donald Gene Jones, 1; Bobbie W'right, 1; James Hardy, 3; P. M. Snowball, 1; J. E. Muncey, 1; Geo. C. Goodwin, 3; LaNae Lund, 2; Don Leon Jones, 2; Glen Casterline, 2; Farrell Fothering-ham- , 3, all of Milford. Glade Merk ley, 4; and Allen Farnsworth, 4, both of Beaver. In most cases the mothers of those receiving awards were present to pin these on the uniforms of their sons and one father was in attendance to make an award. Miniature pins will be received soon which will be presented to the mothers. Mr. Gubler complimented those receiving awards and made other remarks in regard to the scouting program. The colors were retrieved and David Miller offered the closing prayer. The opening prayer was offered by Assistant Scoutmaster Gale Farnsworth. Sixty Scouts and Scouters of the District attended an overnight hike at Cherry Creek on the Milford A campfire Pass road recently. program, first aid demonstration, and nature hike were among the activities of the group.
