Show CCC Camp Gets New Sunt. Arthur Woodworth, Reporter Mr. Fra.nk Hyde, of Kaysville, has. been appointed superintendent! of Camp F-43 at Pleasant Grove. Mr. C. J. Olsen, supervisor of the Was-j Was-j atch National Forest, announced the I appointment Tuesday. Mr. V. N. I West, District Ranger, has been acting act-ing superintendent since the camp began work on September 17. Mr. j West will now be able to devote his full time to his regular forest work, including supervision of the Utah Transient Relief Camp. Mr. Hyde has been a building contractor for twenty-five .years, operating in Davis, Weber, and Salt Lake counties, and in southern Idaho. Ida-ho. He has acted as Bishop in the church of the Latter-day Saints for nineteen years, principally in Kaysville. Kays-ville. Mr. Hyde is not a newcomer to this region as he came here in the fall of 1934 to take charge of the ' construction of the Aspen Grove Amphi-theatre on the grounds used by the Brigham Young University Summer School. At that time, he had fifty CCC boys from the Weeds Cross Camp. Their work lasted for six weeks before bad weather called a halt to the construction. He came ,back in the spring of this year with a crew of forty boys and constructed s large mess hall to replace the one previously destroyed by fire. This project required one month to complete. com-plete. The joint program to be put on Saturday night at the Pleasant Grove high school by the CCC boys and the people of the surrounding communities has been formulated. It is expected that those attending will meet in the auditorium at eight o'clock. The program has been arranged in the following order: Singing of the Star Spangled Banner. Ban-ner. Invocation. Address of Welcome by Captain B. O. Bunyan. Response by Mayor W. W. Lim of Pleasant Grove. Song by Fayette Whitby. Remarks by Mayor William Storrs of American Fork. Vocal number by quartet of boys from Provo high school. Talk by Superintendent David Gourley of Pleasant Grove. Harmonica number by Frank Murphey. Songs by Ernmitt and Joseph Webb and Bob Newton. Reading by Miss Mary Walton of American Fork hgili school. A dance number by three girls from the Provo high school. Closing remarks by Mr. R. S. Merrill. Mer-rill. After the program, the group will j adjourn to the gymnasium for danc-1 ing the rest of the evening to the music of Henry Hartley's orchestra. I |
