Show ESCALANTE CHIT CWA'I By Fay Alvey The warm weather finally arrived and some are growling about that We got so involved with frost-bitten gardens etc. we missed some important Items, like David Griffin having his appendix removed and is now out and a-round again. Vicky Coleman and small son visited' her parents the Bob Woolseys, and Patsy Cottam and three of her children of Provo visited her parents the Usher Spencers. Usher and Eva got word from Courtney Spencer in Idaho that he had his thumb taken off in a sliding door, and while he was in the hospital having it sewn back on they were informed ?at their eleven year old son Terry was in another hospital with a crushed thumb. Courtney has not felt right since last winter when he came so near drowning. Edson Alvey Is home to finish recovering from his operation and Hode Alvey is on crutches again, he don't think much of that "robbing Peter to pay Paul" deal as his hip is even more painful than his heel. The tiny son of the Holbert Smiths came through his operation fine and has been back to have the stitches removed. Will R. Porter went North for a medical checkup. Bessie Griffin took Lorin back to Panguitch for a checks up and the doctor changed medicine which they feel is a big improvement. Mr. and Mrs. Oris Moyes and family went to Rlch-f field for dental appointments, her mother, Mrs. Van Leween of Calif. Is here and moving into the old Ernie Moyes home, It Is rumored she has her eye on one of the local bachelors. Dert Itoundy had his grandson Bernell, one of Quinn's boys bring his bride here to show her off and visit. Vernon Dean Roundy and family were here and then went: to summer school, Jimmy Spencer also went to summer school. Kathleen Marsh came from Bryce for the weekend, Garnu Willis and Judy Mclnelly went to Cedar City for employ ment. Billie Darker came from St. George for a visit and says he Is moving back here, Albert and Wanda Whetten of Ogden and their daughter-in-law and her new baby were visitors at the Beumorit Griffin home and other relatives.. They came for the Deuel reunion. The McKay Baileys went to Kanab for the Rodeo. Connie Jepson brought her mother, Nellie Bailey home fron California, then they went to Kearns where Clive Is staying with the Calvin Schows, they were either go- (continued) ESCALANTE (continued) ing to put Clive in the hospital there or bring him to ,tho one at Panguitch, he is . not a bit well. Deon Alvey took her daughter Denlce to a Richfield Dentist, she was accompanied by Mae Vonn Taylor and two children, Flora Lclb-enguth and son Jake, and Sa-rlah Alvey went along to buy more yarn so she would not run, out work. Aunt Susan Heaps has not been so well lately, she has slowed down to the gear some of us use all the time. Iris Porter celebrated her birthday anniversary with the help of Golda and Euzell Cot-tam, Sariah Alvey, Minnie Davis, Thelda Webster, Clarice Griffin, Verda Griffin and Mina Porter. Lavern Griffin was home for the weekend, Clarice and Mary Griffin went to Panguitch, Mary for a medical checkup and Clarice to visit her sister, Afton Church. Neta Pollock went to Mexico to visit her children and Joe has a son of Clins here for company. Ann Spencer came home for the weekend, she and Karl are buying the basement home belonging to Robert Liston. Leda Pratt had her mother Jane Sedwlcks of Tropic here.. John Norman had his parents the Edward Normans of Brig-ham here. Emmorn Dodds returned fro'm Pago after a j three week visit with his i grandparents, Melba and Ga- den Gates. The Bernard Schows brought their daughter Maurine who was ill so long to visit the Joe Schows. Layton and LaRue Griffin went to Panguitch to have Layton's thumb and side checked, then on to Salt Lake to see LaRue's doctor. The Orrin Porters, of Sprl-ngville were here visiting and fishing. The Al Fosters of Tropic were visitors at the Blllie Davis home, the Royal Alveys and son of Tropic visited their mother, Annie Alvey. John Norman is home from his job In Nevada. Spencer Haycock has his son David and daughter Mary Lynn from California here visiting, Spence started a new style having his fence out, others are doing likewise. The Roland Porters visited in Morgan with the Ken Tuckers and Albert Gledhill and . reports Albert feeling some i better. Now the Porters have gone to Mesa, Arizona, to vis- It their children there. Hllo and Lettio Boycc had daughter Cheryl and her ! children from Idaho and i CUne and Leona Spencer and part of their family from Pro-vo.
