Blrk, 23, whose wife, Barbara, lives at 57 S. Center St., American Fork, recently completed the four-week air borne course at The Infantry School, Fort Bennlng, Ga. Cor poral Blrk received instruction in parachuting and the tech niques of air-dropping troops and cargo. The corporal, son of Mr. and Mrs. John C. Blrk, 207 S. Center St., is a 1956 gradu ate of American Fork High School and attended Brigham Roung University in Provo. Before Be-fore going on active duty, Blrk was employed by the Hercules Powder Co., American Fork. Alpine City to Hold Library Tea An opening Tea for the Al pine City Library will be held Friday, September, 28, from to 5 p.m. Everyone Is welcome All are Invited to bring any books which can be contributed to the Library. The Story Prin cess will be present to tell sto ries to all the children. Library cards may bep urch ased for 50 cents per family and books may then be taken from the library on regular library days. Monday from 3 to 5 p.m.; Thursday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturdays from 3 to 5 p.m. Clubs and Socials BETA SIGMA PHI Members of the Beta Sigma Phi, XI Zeta Chapter, met at the home of Mrs. Edgar Kol-stad, Kol-stad, Thursday evening, Sept. 20, where they heard an Interesting Inter-esting talk given by Glen Var-ney, Var-ney, guest speaker, on Being Alive and The Good life. Mr. Varney told of the different dif-ferent ways other people around ar-ound the world live In comparison compar-ison to our way of life. Mrs. Eddie Ed-die Smith was In charge of the program. 4 A short business meeting was conducted by president Mrs. Lynn Hutchlngs ' Refreshments' were served to others present, Mrs. Frank Baker, Ba-ker, Mrs. Cecil Hansen, Mrs. Joe Hartle, Mrs. Dee Hunter, Mrs. Grant Ivins, Mrs. Paul Shelley, Mrs. Keith Smith, Mrs. Robert Weeks and Mrs. Frank Wofford. Survival Training Course To Be Held The American Fork Sports men are again sponsoring and presenting a Survival Training Course, October 4th and 5th, and also October 11th and 12th in Sportsmen Headquarters. Each training session on both Thursday and Friday nights will be about two hours long. It Is necessary for anyone who wishes a license to hunt this year, who has never before had a license, to take this course In order to procure one. It Is es pecially for those who will be hunting for the first time at legal age. :. There is no age limit and ev eryone is welcome to participate. The Sportsmen also wish to announce that they will hold a "Big Fish" contest as well as a "Wide Spread" contest. These contests are open to all members of the American Fork Sportsmen Association.
