Show Rage 4 April 5, 1885 Forum arts Cl entertainment Nesurby KesItaMirainits Offer Inexpensive' Vzmety They offer daily lunch specials by Tummy Armantruut For quite some time I had avoided going to Two Guys from Italy, at 1020 East 2100 South. I love Italian food, but I knew that this place couldn't fit into my budget. Surprise! I was wrong. I took a friend to lunch there and discovered that, for an average of $3.50 to $4.50, Two Guys serves an excellent meal. Not bad. when you consider that, these days, a hamburger and drink can easily cost you $3. Monday through Saturday, with an additional .Blackboard Special offered Monday through Friday. These range in price from $2.85 to $4.25 and usually include soup or salad and a drink. Two Guys has the traditional, Italian favorites; manicotti, spaghetti, canneloni and pizza. The spaghetti and manicotti are excellent, with lots of flavorable sauce and plenty of cheese. But dont stop there. Be a little more adventurous and try some of the chefs specialties, even though you cant pronounce some of them. 1984 Remains Faithful; Misses Point he is desperately searching for answers. Winston is a transcriber in the Ministry of Truth. There, he spends his days consolidating events and history into current events the way the party wants changing events, eliminating traitors from history and all done with the ninth edition of Newspeak (pronounced OBrien, played by Richard Burton, is a member of the inner party and eventually in the Ministry becomes Winstons of Love. New-speak- ). by Floyd B. George I first read this book when in junior high school. Now for most of you, junior high school was only a few years ago; not so for me. (Julie B., we did too have electricity back then.) The book stunned me then and it did in my early 20's (yes, Julie, I too was once 20) when I reread it One cannot deny the genius of George Orwell, the author. His insight is astounding when you consider the book was first published in 1848. The movie remains faithful to the book in context and style. Oceania is dirty and war-torPeople are starving as rations coriti nue to be cut, Winston, played by John Hurt (Alien," Elephant Man), is so lost and ill that before ne meets Julia, played by Suzanna Hamilton, n. It is hard to believe that with Richard Burton (this was his last role before his untimely death) and John Hurt that the film would be something less than spectacular. It is, in fact, considerably less. This is a fault of the screen writer and director. When a film closely follows such a meaningful book it shouldnt be assumed that everyone in the audience read and understood the book. This is what the film expects of its audience. As such, I question if it will be able to survive. It is unfortunate, but in our society, a film cannot demand much of its audience and expect to be successful. The movie is loaded with scenes never explained or developed but which are a vital part of understanding Orwells message. This flaw is too noticeable and should have been avoided. Pesche della Gente, I discovered, is a fantastic dish, with shrimp, scallops, tomatoes, broccoli, onions and mushrooms, sauteed in a light wine and butter sauce; a fantastic lunch for only $4.15. Lunch is served from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. so its easy to work it into your schedule, and I appreciate the fact that they had beer available. If you dont have time for a leisurely lunch or youre a addict, Millies Bur fast-foo- d gers, at 2032 South 1000 East, is somewhere you should try, if you havent already. You shouldnt be misled by the name. Mil lies has a lot more to offer than burgers. Old-fashion- ed with footlongs on them, gread rib sandwiches, some-of-everythi- tacos and wonderful, shakes and malts, all add together to make this more fun than the local franchise burger places. Instead of just french fries, you can get deep-frie- d mushrooms, zuchinni and onion rings. Millies can take a little longer than some fast-foo- d places and sometimes its a little greasier than I like; but, the selections are great, and the prices are competitive. made-to-ord- er Westminster College Choir will present its Spring Concert on Sunday, April 14 at 7:09 p.m. in the Shaw Cafeteria.
