Utah mountains break destructive winds and catch snow for storage in winter. Come summer, they offer green forests, cool air, clear streams and wild, quiet hide-outRight now people of the valleys, weary and tired of heat and work, are flocking to the mountains for relief and rest. Canyon roads are crowded, camp and picnic grounds are packed, fish streams are lined with now echo sounds fishermen and the wildest of townsfolk in retreat. To witness the popularity of the cool, green mountains one needs but drive into any nearby canyon to see people there free an relaxed. There is, however, one factor of concern in this setting. It is this. Recreationists, relaxed almost to the point of abandonment, may allow fires to escape and burn over the mountains. These mountains have won a desperate battle against the desert to make fresh, green recreation lands. To let a fire escape would be a stroke in favor of the deser. Utah mountain lands cannot keep green against the team of desert and fire. but no two persons agree upon what the ought to be.
