Cleone Judd celebrates her 80th birthday Members of DYU's Folk Dance ensemble spend as much time in midair as they do on the stage floor. Here, three couples perform a lively Hungarian gypsy dance, Cigan Pergetes The ensemble's performances recreate traditional steps of folk dances from around the world. Folk dancers share worlds cultures through music and dance As the largest university folk dance program in the United States, the BYU International Folk Dance Ensemble provides audiences with an entertaining glimpse of the richness and variety of dance from all over the world. The groups contagious enthusiasm is guaranteed to delight audiences whether per-formingt- high-energ- y he Bulgar- ian dances from Graovsko, or gliding through the graceful movements of a Korean Fan Dance. The International Folk Dance Ensemble never fails to deliver a fast paced, superbly staged program. The International Folk Dance Ensemble will perform at the Kanab Middle School on Saturday, February 7, 1998 at 7:30 p.m. The ensemble presents one of the broadest spectrums of inter- national music and dance performed by a single group. Its repertoire includes selections from Western and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Asia. Latin America and North world bring new choreography Ensemble originates in the Department of Dance of the College Health and Human Performance at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. BYU is also one of the nations largest private universities with an enrollment of more than 28,000 students from throughout the United States and 90 foreign countries. The program is spon: sored by the Kanab Variety Arts each year groups rich repertoire. Another exciting addition to the program, which is sure to bring audiences to the edge of their seats, is Cry of the Celts, a spectacular hardshoe exhibition, choreographed by Johanna Edlinger in the style of River Dance. For over thirty years, this ensemble of dancers and musicians has performed extensively in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and North and South America. In 1997, the dance troupe spent July and August turing countries throughout vestern and ro the , S $ it f f Ci-c- Orderville and moved to Fredonia after her marriage to v Allen M. Judd in 1938. She and Allen still live in Fredonia and enjoy visiting with friends and relatives. They have two daugh- ters, Pauiine Smith of Cedar City, and Navna Chritensen of Salt Lake City.
