Show On Friday last, a man of unsound mind, named Ammon Pitkin, was brought before Justice King of Millville, for examination on the charges of committing incest. The statement on which the complaint was based, was made by his daughter, a child twelve years of age. She affirms that from the time she was eight years old, her unnatural father has conducted himself in a criminal manner wither. The particulars of the affairs as related by her are absolutely horrible, and totally unfit to be repeated. Pitkin made no defence; and was remanded to prison to await the action of the Grand Jury in his care. Sheriff Crockett took him to Salt Lake yesterday morning. The miserable creature is and has been for some time in a condition verging on lunacy, and does not realize in the least the terrible position in which he stands before Heaven and the law of the land. |
