M3-?t ---- A man in Millsville was fined ?? on Friday last for selling beer on Sunday. ---- In the Logan police court last Friday two boys were fined five and seven dollars respectively for fighting. ---- The first day of spring was as warm and pleasant as one delightful day, between two "blizzards" possibly can be. ---- The U. & N. R. R. has had several trains seriously delayed in the past week by snow. All are now running on time. ---- Fresh Figs and Oranges, fine roasted peanuts and the largest stock of Caramel Candies in town, at the Pioneer drug store on Main Street. Mar5-tf ---- Miss Mary Jensen, the young lady whose feet were badly frozen while attempting to walk from Logan to Newton in December last, is now able to walk about. ---- On Wednesday last a pdler named Keller, who hails from Corinne, was arrested for selling goods without a license. A fine of $8 was assessed against him. ---- The proprietors of the Logan Meat Market, situated on Main Street, have something to say to the public in this issue of the LEADER, under heading "A False Statement." ---- A boy named Ross while getting a load of wood in Green Canyon yesterday, slipped down a hillside and cut a painful gash in his head. He came to Logan and had the wound dressed. ---- A kind hearted and patriotic individual gave a fine exhibition of tumbling and slush-sliding for the benefilt of about two hundred spectators hear the corner of Main and Second streets on Monday last. His performance was without money, but not without Price. ---- On Saturday last a case was before the police court. The person was a restaurant keeper, and the charges were drunkenness and violation of the liquor ordinance. Both charges were proven to be correct, and fines were assessed to the amount of $33 and costs. ---- Carl C. Johnson, the enterprising music dealer, is not behind the times. He advertises that the lost is found - the want of the age is discovered. The Crown Sewing Machine is here for the use and benefit of the once weary seamstress. The organette can be heard daily at Carl's establishment grinding out music for the foot, yard, or mile. ---- Mrs. J. W. M??? desires to thank the people of Logan for they hearty support of him in his endeavor to secure the establishment of postmaster here. Mr. Moien? Malen? is a crippled Union soldier, has had considerable experience in post offices, and promises if appointed to devote his energies to benefit the [unreadable]. It is to be hoped that he will be successful. ---- The men who was fined $33 on last Saturday for drunkenness and for selling beer, was brought before the police court ??? on Wednesday, charged with selling whiskey. He was proven guilty and a fine of $75 was assessed against him. He gave security for the payment of that amount, and was then allowed to go his way in peace. The ordinance relating to this matter will be enforced just as strictly as possible. |
