Show TWO COALVILLE BOYS ARE CHAMPION VAULTERS 11 coalville Co alville has the unusual honor of having two champions and record holders in the same sport in one season verl wilde and carl dark clark are the peer of pole vaulters in the intermountain region carl holds the state college record at 13 feet 4 inches he is also the intermountain A A U champion winning this title with a jump of 13 feet I 1 inch verl is the state college champion also the mountain state conference champion and record holder at 13 feet 3 inches in comparison with the A A U junior championships in the pole vault avault for the past two years these marks are very good at princeton in 1836 1936 the vault was won at 12 feet 1 inch second at 12 teet feet at milwaukee in 1937 john kolvek of denver last years borky mountain champion won at 13 feet 1 and 58 53 5 8 3 inches second place at 12 feet 6 inches both carl and verl veil are eligible ele gible for the junior championships and as both are c consistent at 13 feet or over they should both stand a good chance to score especially as all men who have previously won a national championship are bared from junior competition the junior championships will be held this year at buffalo new york july 2 it if a local club or or organization 7 would sponsor them the intermountain A A U of which clinton larson is chairman would arrange for them to compete and it if proper arrangements were made soon enough the A A U might pay some towards their expenses this would be an excellent chance to put coalville Co alville on the national sports map as often or more people attend the national championships counte bee Is your subscription paid upa up |
