Ave. STUDENTS ENJOY PROGRAMS During the past week the students of Weber had the privilege of. listen ing to some very splendid programs. The program given by the student tody some time ago, the majority of the numbers of which were well rendered by members of that organization, was one of the best to be given this year. Wallace Budge, Grace Stone, Lowell Ridges, Lou Roberts, Josephine Shorten, Prof. Dixon and Mrs. Amber Kenyon contributed to the success of the entertainment. . Mr. Clifford Kay entertained the students in devotional Tuesday morning with his remarkable dexterity on the piano. John Croft's interpretation of "The Cremation of Dan McGee" came as a surprise to the tnire student body. The program arranged by the musical faculty Wednesday morning proved not only interesting to the students, but attracted a number of visitors from outside. Miss Ware, Miss Foster and Miss Van Dyke, local musicians, assisted by the Girls' quartette, the Glee club and the School orchestra, furnished the best musical program enjoyed this year. It is high time a resurrection took place and the Public Service bureau utilized some of this talent in a few programs throughout the city. WEBER ASSISTS DRAMA CLUB Weber was well represented in the recent production of four one-act dramas by the Drama club of this city, which shows that she is rapidly taking her place in the dramatic circles of the city. Prof. Pardoe, who was partly responsible for the supervision of the production carried the role of "Voice-of-the-Gods," a prophet in the "Laughter of the Gods." Needless to say, his part was executed perfectly. Profs. Kasius and Savage also carried important roles and did justice to their parts. Ellis Barker and Douglas Leishman carried lighter, but no less important parts. Miss Ellen Scowcroft, Lee Brewer and Milford (Strongheart) Moench represented two of our recent graduating class and Mrs. T. Earl Pardoe, Miss Minnie Brown and Mr. Moroni Olsen are well known friends of Weber. With the advent of the stage and the assistance of Prof. Pardoe, Weber should turn out some first-class amateur thespians. (Dedicated to Verna Johanson and Lee Lofgreen.) They strolled beside the water, They walked along the sand, He was busy thinking, He held her little umbrella. The sun began to set, The moon began to rise, He sat alone beside her, And gazed into her lunch basket. His mind was moving fastly His soul was filled with bliss, He moved a little closer, And tried to steal a doughtnut. His heart was filled with rapture, As he gazed into her charms, He grew tired waiting and cried Come to my funeral. Vhe WEBER FLORAL Thone FOUR-ONE-0 - QREEN HOUSE, 740 28ih Si. BRIEF MENTION The Senior play, "Prof. Pepp," will soon initiate the new stage. Rehearsals are now being held and the finishing touches will be applied by Prof. Pardoe. The leading schools of the state aie holding their "Proms" early this year. It might pay the Juniors to investigate the advantages and start to work on Weber's "Ken" Schade and Art Linrord say I hey won't object if some young lady will volunteer to teach them the art of dancing. They say their ignorance upon this subject hampers their social standing. Now's your chance, girls. While this paper is at press Weber is battling Ogden high school in the tirst of the annual basket ball games. It has been many years since Hi handed Weber a defat and we hope they will have to offer the usual excuse, "Wait 'til next time." E. L. Wilkinson at box office (assuming a tough pose) "Gi' me a couple of tickets for the roost." By request, hereafter, the Herald will not mention faculty members' names in the joke department. We are "Hooverizing" on the advertising. Gus Visser says these are startling times. "Even a swimming pool in Weber for the boys." Get that camera busy for the Acorn. John Croft proved himself quite a reader last week. Speaking of contrasts, Gordon and John for instance. The marriage of Miss Alice Stahr and Mr. Harrison Hedger took place in the Salt Lake temple last week. Wm. Minson, Carl Frorer and Wallace Norton, former students enlisted .n various departments of the army, have arrived safely in Europe. The Jormer landed in England, and "Fat" and "Chief" landed in France. "Pete" Visser, Weber's last year's wrestling coach, is cutting shines in that line in the east, where he is attending a Chiropractic school. If there are any marked improvements in this issue they are due to the severe criticism of student body officers, especially Andrew Kasius. Lewis and Irene Scoville, former students, are attending school in Chicago. Lewis is attending a prominent finance school and Irene is studying music. Both are enjoying good health and hard work. Indirect lighting for the auditorium is included in the proposed lighting system for the stage. The plans as submitted to the board of control will ental the expenditure of about $400 and would give Weber the best school or church stage in the state. Andy Kasius came out of a pool hall last week with his head submerged in pool chalk. Someone thought he was a cue. CO. Never disappoints You - vhere the Flowers Grow STORE. 2463 Wash.
