Show Editorial . . . JUST A "THANK YOU" Thanksgiving day is with us once again. Centuries have rolled by since the first one. More centuries will roll by before the last one is proclaimed. Why? Because the idea behind it is a sound one. The honoring of the Giver of all good gifts. And when will He cease to be ever mindful of those who seek Him and acknowledge ac-knowledge His hand in all things? But with us perhaps the least articulate of our characteristics is gratitude. So this one day a year particularly dedicated to thankfulness, thankful-ness, thanksgiving and the expressions expres-sions of this emotion is doubly appropriate. ap-propriate. Now it is not necessary to do some big thing one day a year to discharge our obligation. Some little thing repeated daily until it becomes a part of ourselves will serve the purpose. Oh let's say the use of just two words thank you. The next time anyone does anything any-thing for you why not say thank you. Just thanks would fill the bill. How grateful the donor of a gift or a service feels for this slight token. It settles everything in many instances. It is the beginning begin-ning of an endless chain of kind, nesses in many others. This Thanksgiving day will not have been spent in vain if we first thank God for His bounties. And then resolve that we'll thank all of His children for their many kindnesses to us and continue to thank each individual daily when the bill for service falls due and that's immediately after the service serv-ice is rendered. Just for one day maybe tomorrow, tomor-row, yes? Just begin. It's easy once begun. It won't be nearly so hard the second day. Perhaps before be-fore the week is out the thank you machine will be in full gear . . . with nothing to stop it. What a wonderful year it will be! A constant thanksgiving. |
