Show The Journal of Anson Call The Bountiful Historic Preservation Commission has provided this information from the journal of Anson Call, an earty Mormon pioneer who helped settle Bountiful. Family Con-ection Con-ection pleasant. All that is in the neighborhod, amounting to about 60, maid as good as super as could. The winter of '60 cold. Cattle winterd well. The spring faverable. In June spent 2 weeks with Pre Brigham Young and Comp. Traveled in to cashe Vally. Sold my farm to Bare River to Cester Loveland and boat Dany Waltons farm. Gave 3000 dollars, 90 acres. Moved Josiah family on it, cut about 75 tons of hay on it. Raised 12 hundred bush of grain this year, mosly wheat. Laid out $1500 dollars dol-lars in improvements on farm. Margretta had a dauter born April 19, 2 O'lock a.m. '60. Her name is Calistia. Emma had a dauter dau-ter born August 11, '60. Her name is Fanny. The winter of '61 has bin mild. A quanty of snow. April 9, '61, Henriet, Josiah widow was seald to me for time. This has bin a fruitful season. I have raised about 2 thousand bush of grain this year, the most of it wheat. Built stone barn, 45 by 35, cost 2 thousand dollars. I was appointed to finish the meeting House by Brigham Young. Agust 8, '61 . Mar-greta Mar-greta had a dwter born Nov. 28, '61. Her name Samantha. 1862 A very Snoe cold winter. Water very high. Do much damage in the spring on large streams. Nues continualy arives by Teli-graph Teli-graph of the fitings in the States. She died with infimation in the bowels, sick three weeks. Violate Died Jne 10, '62. Sick 2 months. Aged nine years, 10 monthse, 18 dayse. She wase baptised bap-tised May 15, '62. The year '63 but little snow in the mountain. The Meating house dedicated de-dicated March 14, '63. Compleatly finished. Dedicated by the Presidency Pres-idency and 4 of the twelve. The Building cost forty or fifty thousand dollars. Four thou dollars I paid of my own privat property. The Presidency said it was the best house in the teritory. The presidant and suit staid at my house over nite, 150 persons and 100 horses wish I furnish the most of them 3 meals. Emma bore a Daughter April 18, '63. Born 4 o'c. p.m. 20 minutes. We call her name Lucina. The season driest we have eaver had. Crops lite. Emigrasion large from the states to the mines, mose-ly mose-ly to git read of the ware. Hour emigration about 8 thousand. Church sent five hundred hun-dred teems to the Misourie river to featch the poore. In 1862, 300 wagons, in 1862 200 wagons. The majority are from Urop, and the most of them are broat by Church fons.
