Mr. Joe Sloan, representative from the Chamber of Commerce also attended the meeting to talk with the girls concerning the Chamber of Commerce members sponsoring the girls. v-- c A talent rehearsal will be held this evening for the girls, and a beauty parade is scheduled for Monday afternoon to enable the public to see a sample of our local beauties before contest time. Persons interested in backing local youth functions will attend the Miss Kearns Pageant Monday, May 25th, I -- 'a Kathlene Cafarelli is a brown eyed beauty of 19 who is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Cafarelli, 5511 So. 4385 W. Miss Cafarelli was president of the JCL's and has been an attendant to the Founders Day Queen of Kearns. She is 5 ft. 120 6 inches tall and weighs pounds. She has also had training in music and dancing. The public are also re- -- VFW Elko Trip Planned Some time ago reprefrom the Magna VFW sentatives Travel Bureau on Elko appeared TV and won their post program on a trip to Elko. The date is set for Saturday, May 23, and all members that have planned to make the trip are making final plans for the excursion. They will enjoy the weekend with transportation and reservations free thanks to Mr. Charles Parais, Mr. Grant Damron, Mr. Bill Louder-bac- k and Mr. Dick Franzen, the committee who won the trip for the group. MAGNA St. Francis to Give Annual Carnival1 The annual carnival, sponsored by St. Francis Catholic Church will be held June 13 and 14th on the grounds surrouning the Parish Hall. There will be plenty of rides and concessions to furnish enjoyment for young and old alike. On June 14th five prizes will be given to holders of raffle tickets, contain- ing lucky numbers. Winners need not be present to receive their prize. (Continued on Page 2) fi - VFW Marble Tournament sponsored by the Walker Neal Snyder Post No. 9322 of Kearns was held Saturday, May 16, at Kearns, Utah. The tournament started at 10 a.m. at the Kearns Jr. High School grounds with 29 boys competing in the meet. Judges for the tournament were representatives from the various VFW groups throughout the state who had sponsored boys entering in the competition.
