Show This judging will determine the '1956 National Cotton Bag Sewing Queen and two runners-up who will receive all-expense paid vacations vaca-tions in Chicago for themselves and escorts and share merchandise gifts valued at $2,500. Cotton Bag Sewing 4 Contest Announced "Sew It Yourself With Cotton Bags" will be the theme of step-ped-up activity in many homes during coming weeks as housewives house-wives prepare entries for the Cotton Cot-ton Bag Sewing Contest at the Utah State Fair. Cash prizes will be awarded for the best home sewing in the following fol-lowing class lots: Kitchen curtains, blouse, pajamas or lounge outfit, man's or boy's sport or western shirt, luncheon set, mother and daughter dresses, stuffed toy, and child's quilt or comfort. The grand prize, a Necchi portable sewing machine, will be presented the contestant con-testant who wins the highest total in cash prizes. A record number of entries is expected ex-pected this year, according to Miss Evelyn Hansen, Home Arts director. direc-tor. Except for trimmings, all articles ar-ticles must be made from cotton bags used as containers of feed, flour and other staples, she explained. ex-plained. Entries must be mailed or delivered to Utah State Fair, Box 2136, Salt Lake City, Utah on or before Sept. 8, 1956. Each entry must be accompanied by an official of-ficial form provided by the contest sponsors, the National Cotton Council and the Textile Bag Manufacturers' Man-ufacturers' Association. Winning entries from 54 state and regional fairs in 38 states will compete in finals at the Morrison Hotel, Chicago, on November 15. |
