Lindsay will entertain the Daughters of Utah Pioneers Pion-eers at a 1 o'clock luncheon. Following the luncheon the regular meeting will be held at which the election of officers will take place. All members are urgently requested to be present. Mrs. Blanche Fletcher, Park City's capable music instructor, has moved her studio from her home on Park Avenue, to the building adjoining the public library on Main street, where she will be pleased to meet any and all desiring instructions in vocal and instrumental music. Jack Green was regularly appointed October 1st as one of the local post-office post-office clerks. At the recent examination held on August 16th, Jack obtained an average of 89, without the 5 per cent spot given on account of military service; ser-vice; this was the -highest mark received by any of the twenty-five who took the examination. W. G. Kershaw, Harvey Booth and Mrs. Hugh L. Chamberlain, who obtained next highest marks, will come In for all extra work that will be occasioned by vacancies, and extra help required at Christmas time. The central district conference of Business and Professional Women's Club3 met at Tooele, Utah, Sunday, October 2nd, at the Kirk Hotel. The Park City club being , represented by Stella Roach, president and Mrs, Earle Reseigh, vice president. Miss Elizabeth Fitzgerald, assistant principal of the West High, school gave a splendid talk during the luncheon, of her travels this summer In Europe and International problems. The next regular meeting will be held October 17th at the New Park Hotel, this city, at 7:30 p. m. All members mem-bers are requested to attend. The progressive proprietor will give a free dance at this popular business place tomorrow, Friday night, for the benefit of the Girls Softball Soft-ball teams. Free dance and free music will be the feature. The dance hall Is nicely decorated, the floor perfect, and every attention Is given for a good time for the patrons. An ideal place for young folks to enjoy a pleasant plea-sant evening and It should be liberally patronized. Including Gerald Perkins and Francis Johnson cf Park City, Utah, 70 grid-iron aspirants reported last week for fresh man football at Brigham Young university, univer-sity, at Provo. By far the greatest number num-ber of ex-high school athletes to report for Frosh training the squad includes representatives of thirteen states , and Canada. Perkins and Johnson, former Park City High school stars, weighed in at 170 and 160 respectively and will be candidates for end and back posts on the Cougar Kitten eleven. The green lings will tackle Inter-state competition among junior colleges for laurels. Both Park City boys are expected to make strong bids for positions. The hosts of friends of the "young timer," and lawyer, Bart McDonougtv will be surprised to hear he will close his law office next week, and will leave for Washington, D. C, to accept a federal position. In evidence of the high esteem in which Mr. McDonough is held by his brother Elks and the Park City citizenry In general, a farewell party will be ten' dered him next Saturday night at Elks Hall, and Elks, their wives and sweet hearts are earnestly urged to be present. Mr. McDonough was recently appointed District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler, B. P. O. Elks, for Utah. The well wishes for every success will accompany Bart in his new field of labor. At the end cf the first week of re gistration, fourteen Summit county students were on the class rolls at the University of Utah. Total registration at that time was 3715, an increase of 255 over the number registered on the corresponding date last year. The Summit Sum-mit county students are: Floyd Williams, Frank Rees, Ella Pace, James Neeley, Ford Cheney, from Coalville; Fay Thomas, Bernard McGarry, Robert Price, Andrew Hurley, and Sherman Stone, from Park City; Earl Barlow, Echo; and Jack Woolstenholme, Jack Brimhall and Mercy Sargent, Kamas. Bernard "Barney" McGarry, Mc-Garry, former Park City boy, is captain and star tackle on the Ute football squad one of the season's leading contenders for the conference championship. x i i 3 FREE!
