FRIDAY, OCTOBER 8, THE DATE. Reynold's Hall the Scene -A Banquet at the Citj Hall-It will be the Event of the Season. In this city first originator! the movement which will culminate noon in a successful Couutv Fair at Provo, and from this city that enterprise enter-prise will always receive a cordial and strong support. As a testimonial of their feeling in the matter, the committee com-mittee having fair matters In charge mow propose to give a ball for the benefit of the Fair, which will totally eclipse anything yet hcid in the county. This is a large order, but Sspringville Is just the town to fill it, and will do so. Reynolds' hall has been prepared for the winter campaign, aud is now second to none the ideal ball-room of the country. The hest music obtainable obtain-able will be secured, and an effort made to make the occasion one lon to be remembered. A banquet will be given at the City Hall, and when it is announced that Nine Host Harrison, of the Hotel Harrison, will brew and bake for the occasion, a volume has been spoken, and nothing more need be said. There will be numerous other pleasing pleas-ing features for the occasion, which will be described at length later. The date, a week from tomorrow evening, should not be forgotten. W. C. T. U. The Woman's Christian Temperance Temper-ance Union of Springville, after a vacation of several unnths, held its regular msetiru T.iursday, thtj 23rd Inst, in the Baptist Hall. The meeting meet-ing wa9 of special interest to the members because of reports and plans for work from the variouscomtntttces. Storrs came iu to see us a day or so ago and to talk about the fun he had in Springvillc. Storrs met Bro. Gibson of the Springville Independent. Independ-ent. It is strange what peculiar tastes some people have. Gibson told Storrs that the two newspapers he most enjoys reading are The Salina Press and the Richfield Advocate. He asked about The Press man and Storrs filled poor Gibson so full of wind that he came near bursting his belly-band. Storrs said that Howard was the first settler in Southern Utah; that he is rich and has three wives and fifty-two children living in Mexico; that he owns all the sheep in trie Sevier Valley and spsnds the greater part of his time Ashing and hunting; that The Press is edited by an old woman who takes in washing; that Howard is 78 years old and naver had a square meal since he was a boy; that be is blind in one eye, deaf as a post, has a wooden leg and is as crazy as a poisoned poison-ed bed-bug. How much more Storrs told Gibson, we don't know. He told hlui enough, anyway. Salina Press. Literary Society Organized. The Democratic Dem-ocratic society met Monday night aud elected a committee for the ensuing ensu-ing year, as follows: President-T. O. Creer; Vice Pres. Andrew Pryor; 2nd Vice Pres. Miss Lizzie Chis-holm; Chis-holm; Secretary and Treasurer H. .'. Jex; Assistant Secretary Miss Mary C. Lewis. Jacob Robertson and Miss Ida Gard ner received license to wed, and on Tuesday they left for the Salt Lake temple, where they will tie the holy knot. John N.
