Two more laurels can be added to. the list of the Salina Tigers, as they have scalped two teams during the' past week, that have played on the home diamond. The first and fastest game of .the whole season was that' played with Richfield Sunday afternoon. Both teams did excellent playing and Richfield held the lead until the last innings. Then luck changed and the Tigers showed' their teeth. Pitcher Lewis let the ball whizz past the batter into the rait of Glenn Steel, catcher; and the umpire calleL .Out. This was done thrice and at the end of the first' half of the last ' innings the .. score stood seven six in favor of Richfield. It was with watchful eyes that the Tigers took to batting the ball, and their eyes didnt deceive them, for at the end of the game they looked upon the scorebook which showed a victory over their opponents by one points.' When defeat came the score stood seven eight. All who witnessed the game testify to it that it was the best game played on the local I diamond this seaNO. The second game played was Vhat In of Wednesday with Gunnison. the beginning of the game Salina easily took the lead by their heavy batting. The ball seemed to be thrown straight for their bat and the next moment the ball would be seen flying over the field fence. This was done several time, which allowed the locals to. make two .home rims. The Tigers were equally as good in holding their opponents down, when in. the field. Pitcher Lewis just naturally let the ball fly over the plate and the batter was out. Only a few were given the chance to reach third base and not one was allotted to reach home plate. The .victory was decisive- for the Tigers, Gunnison being shut, out by a score of 17 to 0. - LITERARY CLUB MEMBERS PROVE ROYAL ENTERTAINERS Due to the big Rodeo held, here on Wednesday as many of the old folks were not present, to the party given by the Ladies Literary Club,1 as had been expected. However, those who did attend were very royally entertained from two oclock in the afternoon until six. The Ladies were successful in giving the old timers everything, in the line of old folks dances, games, program and luncheon that helps make a party what it should be. The first part of the entertainment was a program given by the older people of the town. Violin solos pioneer songs and comic readings were all given interestingly and made a merry time for all those present. After the games, the members of the Literary Club served a delicious luncheon consisting of salad, punch, sandwiches, cake and ice cream. Everyone present report having had a very entertaining time. Enoch Sorenson stopped in Salina Monday night enroute to Idaho to visit with his sister. Miss Rhoda Johnson of Elsinore is the house guest of Miss Bell Webb this w'eek. Miss Webb will accompany her home the last of the week to visit with friends and relatives for a few days.
