Show The Ladies' Ladies Sociable LOn u L uOn On the bulletin board last week by a alady's alady's alady's ladys lady's hand was written a paragraph inviting the Faculty and the gentlemen students ts to be present at the University at eight o'clock Friday evening The invitation caused much curiosity in the minds of those invited and it was with 1 II fear and trembling they responded to it This feeling however howe was overcome by the time the building was reached j jand and a tidy room decorated with flowers j jand and productions of the classes in art had j presented itself Those who arrived after eight found a large and very lively crowd of gentle folk assembled Sociability and good humor were the order of the evening and everyone seemed willing to have a a good time About nine o'clock Miss Kees introduced introduced introduced intro intro- Evans McGhie McDonald McDonald McDonald Mc Mc- Donald and Ames as the Sage brush Quartette winners of the Worlds World's Fair medal etc and these gentlemen rendered rendered rendered rend rend- ered a Welcome song in a way that brought them an encore They responded responded responded re re- with a pretty melody After another period of chatting a duet was rendered by Misses Mabel Cooper and Eva The ladies were heartily applauded Following this was a chorus by the University girls For an encore the chorus gave a very II happy little song Since the piano solo which should have come next did not owing to the pianists pianist's excusable absence Miss l Babcock told How Ruby Played She was encored and in response gave one of these selections that works you all aU up and then lets you drop so suddenly that you feel oh so flat This only made the audience applaud the more wildly and not until the lady had given another selection would they cease A solo by Miss Romney very prettily rendered and and another chorus from theU theU the II U U. U of U. U Lassies ended the very successful successful suc suc- program The hour was now nowr j r late and after the boys had given vent to their their- appreciation by a yell for the girls to which the eds co-eds responded for forthe forthe forthe the U. U of U. U the gathering broke up NOTES f If everyone didn't have a good tim time it t wasn't the ladies' ladies fault Miss Kees played the part of master master of ceremonies in an admirable manner Miss Babcock was very gracious and pleasing She made one feel right at home We congratulate Miss Brotherhood on the display of her classes in art It shows what interested students under skillful direction may do We do not recall one of the Faculty who was not present and all were in inthe inthe inthe the best of spirits The lemonade was very good It was thoroughly appreciated |
