Show Heroism and Righteousness. The Turk, believing that his soul will rise To heaven at once if on the field he dies While fighting Allah's foes. Is but a slave To that poor faith which leaves him at the grave. He that from sin and from temptation flees Because he fears the God above him sees. Is, like the foolish Turk, a haunted slave Who goes at last deluded to his grave. They are the heroes who, afraid to die, Still follow duty where the bullets fly, And he Is righteous who, unchecked by fear, Scorns sin's allurements, holding virtue dear. |
