This time, many people knew about the problem because they did not have water. Having said that, there are many times that there is never a problem as Mr. Summers is able to foresee most problems before they occur. I know for a fact Thom works to ensure things are running well—come hell or high Addi Naylor plays guitar at Snowcrest Back to School party at Nordic Valley. The event was a tremendous success! Over 200 students from all three Jr. Highs feeding into Weber High attended and enjoyed an evening getting to know each other before the start of the school year. The Sophomore Warriorettes performed, the students played volleyball, participated in games, enjoyed dinner, and listened to great music. A great big thank you to Nordic Valley and Electrifying Events—businesses that made this event such a memorable evening. Nordic Valley Resort provided the venue free of charge and supplied $5 meals for the students. Trevor White, from Electrifying Events, also contributed to the event with an amazing stage and sound system! Because of these two entities, the evening was an especially fantastic success. The Valley is such an amazing community where businesses, schools, and individuals support each other; a thank you to everyone who supports Snowcrest Jr. High PTSO. Ogden Valley Balloon & Artist Festival Board Extends its Gratitude This year’s three-day event set current records with over 10,000 attendees, 68 vendors, 16 hot air balloons, 55 volunteers, and perfect launches. I am very happy with the outcome of this year’s event and all of the entities that were positively affected. We achieved and exceeded all of our target marks. “The energy and cooperative spirit of the volunteers this year was simply wonderful to witness. It’s such a pleasure to see the community get involved in this signature event,” stated Beverly Zimmerman, coordinator for volunteer efforts. Our philanthropic endeavors benefited greatly from the high attendance. Groups attending included Ogden Rescue Mission, Weber High Cheerleaders, and Mountain Arts and Music. In addition, the event had a very high economic impact on local, valley-wide businesses. Festival organizers would like to personally thank all of the people who helped make the Ogden Valley Balloon & Artist Festival a success this year. The volunteer board members who worked hard to bring the event to life included Eileen Sawyer, Jim Ormsbee, Marla Rawlings, Beverly Zimmerman, and Amanda Ballenger. Janet Smith Edmundson was the event administrator and Pam Mitchel, the web designer and graphic designer. Dustin Anderson of the Weber County Health Department is to be recognized for providing first aid. Brian Schupe, Jeff Summers and the team of Electrician’s created “a small city.” Also, a big thank you is extended to the Balloon Meister’s Kent Barnes and Mike Bauwens for arranging the balloon pilots who LETTER TO EDITOR cont. on page 10 |
