Show ST. GEORGE. Sad News from the. outliern Capital. St. Geoegis, Utah, December 29th, 1878. Editors Herald: Christmas has passed off very quietly, in fact, it has been rather one of sorrow than one of pleasure. Last Thursday, at 5 p.m., Mrs. Agnes Pymm, wife of our much respected re-spected postmaster, John Pjmm, died, her complaint being of a drop sical nature. She was a kind lovina and affectionate wife, a devoted mother, and was loved and respected by all. The funeral services were held in the tabernacle to-day, and notwithstanding the very inclement weather, were well attended by both men and women. Appropriate addresses ad-dresses were delivered by Milo And-rus, And-rus, J. D. T. McAllister and D. H. Cannon, alter which the body was followed to the cemetery by a number of wagons and carriages. Last evening, between 5 and 6 o'clock, George Sullivan, a young man of about 22 years of age, whose I married life had extended scarce tbe period of a twelvemonth, was kicked in the abdomen by a wild horse wbioh he was endeavoring to drive. He expired in half an hour, never regaining re-gaining consciousness sufficient to enable him to speak. He was a very promising young man, and his Iobb will be deeply felt by his family and a large circle of friends. His This morning, on arising, we were somewhat surprised to find nature olothed in the hoary garb of winter, the snow having fallen during the night to tbe depth of about two inches. It has been snowing lightly since then until now, at evening, without having materially increased in depth, on account of the mildness of the air. Two days ago one might have consistently worked out of doors in his shirtsleeves. Messrs. Moody and Whitehead announce an-nounce a grand ball, to be bold in the court house on New Year's evening, which may help to enliven things. Seeja. |
