Show 17, 1975 Page Eight FRIDAY, OCTOBER U.S. Department Of Interior Termed Chaotic By State Officials Salt Lake County Utahs efforts to develop its own energy resources are being frustrated because the U.S. of Interior is in administrative chaos" so say Utahs Governor Calvin L. Rampton. Governor Rampton said that attempts to get decisions out of the Department of Interior have been fruitless. Questions that should be resolved in a few week are dragged out for a year. This inability to act has serious consequences for Utah because most of its land contain energy resources owned by the federal government. The government went on to say that the Bureau of Land Management which administers 50 percent of the federal land in Utah has withdrawn coal lease De-partm- nt from a quarter of that land. This might not be so bad, but the BLM has submitted another 50 percent fdr withdrawal consideration the past three years. While the decision is pending the land is in effect withdrawn. Governor Rampton went on to say that Kaiparowits Project is a prime example of delay by the federal bureaucracy.
