Show 1 Bears Meet Weber High On Local Floor Friday Coach Durrell Hughes's Bear River Bears meet the Weber high quintet in the second league tussle of the year for both clubs on the home court Friday. Game time for the opener is 6:30, with the main feature scheduled for 8 o'clock. In the Weber five the Bears meet a quintet of ball handlers who use speed and height to an advantage. Weber's key man Hadfield, who towers 6 foot, 5 inches and has collected 80 points in season play, is a power on the boards and rings goals consistently for the Warriors. With Hadfield, Coach Floyd Slater will probably start Budge and Brown as forwards and Shaw and Montgomery at the guard slots. In season play to date the Weber squad have won from Ogden, Logan and South Cache, but have dropped games to Box Elder, North Cache and Bear River. The Rivermen in offensive play will resort to a double and single post with Nish and Beard at post positions. A zone defense will also be utilized by the Bears in an attempt to keep the towering Weberites from close play around the basket. In the league opener at Weber the Bears defeated the Ogden club In fact, the Warriors have failed to defeat the quintet in hoop play since 1947. Since that time the Rivermen have five times won contests from Weber squads. fast-breaki- Riv-erme- 55-4- 9.
