The purpose of thl bill Is to give all Indian War veterans wbo fought the Indians in Utah in the early day of it ettlement a pensionable statue and to place tlieln oil the same basis with all soldiers who are entitled to pension under governmental enactment. The great difficulty that will confront the I'tuh veteran is tha lact that there ere no records 00 file III the war department ilio-ving theenlistrucnt of those veterans ai obtains In tiie case ol soldier who fought In the Civil War. In the latter case the records are complete showing the name ol the enlisted soldier, the place where he enlisted, the length of service and other data. There is no record re-cord at band giving complete data a to these Indian war veterans aud unless thin data li secured uuny who will be entitled to peusiuns.xill be deprived of what they are justly entitled to. An elforl is now being oiac'e throughout the Statu to get as complete a record as possible in order to ascertain who the pensioner are. When thl data ha been collected and collated it will be placed in the hand of L' lab's representatives represen-tatives in Congress, aud, should Ihe bill introduced by Senator Kearus pil-s, as there is every prospect that it w ill, the Utah representatives will be In a position posi-tion to obtain lor these Indiau war veterans vet-erans the rewards hich are their by just desert. |
