Show PIONEER LADY IS CALLED BY DEATH mary ann savage wife of herbert savage died friday afternoon at 4 at the family residence north third west street following an illness of three weeks she had a severe attack of pneumonia last cpr spring ing which left her with a weakened heart mrs savage was born august ethl ath 1850 in devonshire En england iland she came to utah in august 1868 making her home in this city in november of the same year she married herbert savage one of the pioneers of this this city to this union six children were born five of whom survive her as follows mrs francis cuthbert Cut libert mrs anna biddle beddle herbert savage mrs rebecca crawford Craw tord all of this city and mrs lavina goodliffe of salt lake city there are also 46 surviving grand children and 16 great grand children she has been a devo devoted ted wife and loving mother and a faithful work er in the church of jesus christ of latter day saints she was possessed of a cheerful disposition and enjoyed the love and confidence ot of her friends and neighbors funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at 1 at the third ward chapel under the direction of bishop H wi W valentine there was wag a large attendance and a wealth of floral tributes the services opened by the relief society choir singing the hymn sister thou wast mild and lovely invocation was offered by C W richards followed by the choir singing resting now from care an and d sorrow the speakers were bishop D P burt patriarch adolph madsen moroni phillips patriarch denmark jensen Nels Madsen henry C jensen and bishop H W valentine special musical numbers included a solo my faith in thee by mrs jesse W hoopes a duet tired byars 0 G i spencer Spen cerand and orvllle orville lund aud and a solo beyond the gates of paradise by mrs stowell the closing song was the lord Is my shepherd by the choir and benediction was offered by bishop J A A fishburn interment took placa paca at the city cemetery jesse W hoopes dedicating the grave |
