Thomas was the daughter of Ervin R.and Jane Sargent Wilson. and was born in Salt Lake City August 4, 1852. When abe was 4 years of age. the family moved to Spanish Fork and this ha since been her home. In her young womanhood she was married to Michael Stoker, also of a pioneer family, and to them were born three children, Iwo of whom, Mlss.Jane Stoker of Spanish Fork, and Blahop W. E. Stoker ot Salt Lake City survive. Mr. Stoker died about fifty years ago, and some years later she was married to Edward P. Thomas, whe preceded her in death seven years. To this union were born thre children. They are Edelbert Thomas of Green River, Utah; Mrs. Anthon P. Johnson, of Mapleton and LeRoy Thomas of Magna. Three step-chil- d ren, L. I. Thomas of Spanish Fork, Mrs. Anute Snell of Salt Lake and Arthur Thomas of Phoenix, Arizona, survive, as do 24 grand children and seven n. Students From Many States Attend U. of U. Sixty-si- x students' from Utah county were registered as resident students at the University of Utah for the college year 1929-3according to official figures given, out by E. J. Norton, recorder. Sixty were registered for extension and correspondence, and eleven were enrolled in the 1929 summer school. The total resident collegiate enrollment for the year 1929-3- 0 was 3317. Johnson to the members of he Spanish Fork Klwanis club at their regular meeting held Monday night, at the Palace Cafe. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson, and nine other Spanish Fork people attended tbe celebration held In Iceland late In June in honor of the one thousandth an- niversary of tbe Icelandic parliament The speakers spoke very highly of the people of Iceland, explaining that there are no pour, very few rich, and practically no criminal element. Tbe police department of Reykjavik, the capital, are the only policemen on the island, and they have little to do, except direct traffic. The people live mainly by fishing, although they do raise some sheep and (.attle, but tbe farming operations are In a very primitive state. The homes are mod ern, and have all tbe conveniences of homes in the United States or continental Europe. , Iceland prides herself on her school system, which is said to be one of tbe best in tbe world. There is no . illiteracy, and practically ail the people of the isn land can speak two or three, and more, languages. The total enrollment for the year 1929-3including resident, extension and correspondence, and 1929 summer school students, less duplicates, was 6933. This showed a healthy Increase over the year 1928. Of the total enrollment, 137 were from Utah county. The Schol of Arts and Sciences led the schools of the University in th number of students registered with a total of 1024. The School of Education was second with 877 students. The aportlonment of students among the other schools was as' follows: Mines and Engineering, 381; Medicine, 209, Law, 180, and Business, 561.
