Show Charming Home Wedding Unites Miss Marie Barrett And Melbourne B. Cottam A charming home wedding took place Saturday evening, Oct. 11, in this city, when Miss Marie Barrett Bar-rett of Cincinatti, Ohio, became the bride of Melbourne B. Cottam, of Salt Lake City, son of Mr. and Mrs. James F. Cottam of Veyo. The marriage ceremony was performed per-formed at the home of the groom's brother, Mr. and Mrs. Evan B. Cottam, with Bishop Andrew McArthur Mc-Arthur of the South ward officiating offici-ating in the presence of family members and a few intimate friends. The bride was gowned in ivory velvet with matching turban trimmed trim-med with orange blossoms and wore a corsage of tiny pink rose buds. She was unattended. Von B. Cottam, brother of the groom, was best man. Following the wedding ceremony cere-mony the wedding party went to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Willard Milne, where dinner was served. Mrs. Milne is a sister of the groom. The table was set with crystal glass on heavy lace covers, cov-ers, potted plants and baskets of fall flowers being used in decorations. decor-ations. Place favors were tiny hand-made brides with tulle veils. Centering the table was an elaborately elabor-ately decorated wedding cake. In the evening an informal wedding reception honored the couple at the banquet room of the Arrowhead hotel, with more than 50 relatives and friends attending. A short impromptu program under un-der direction of Mr. and Mrs. Von B. Cottam provided entertainment, preceding the opening of the many gifts received. Light refreshments refresh-ments were served. The groom is a graduate of the Dixie junior college and has since been employed in California and for the past year in Salt Lake City, where he met Miss Barrett. They left Sunday morning for Salt Lake City, where they will make their home for the present. |
