COMMUNITY RELATIONS Three Job Corpsmen have been placed at the Day Care Center, and six ‘more are working in Salt Lake School District's Full Year Head Start Program. The Corpsmen are assigned to the programs for training program. During this time, they will learn the job aide. It is hoped that they can then locate work as graduation from the Job Corps Program. The Legal Services Program was successful this month in obtaining a favorable decision from a three-judge Federal panel placing the State of Utah under an injunction that will force them to meet the requirements of Section 402 (a) 23 of the Social Security Act by the end of 1971 legislative session or lose their Federal financial support. Richard Rappaport, lawyer for the Legal Services Program, has recently been appointed to serve on the State's Medic-Aid Advisory Board. It is. hoped this appointment will result in a more realistic program with better services for the poor. The Voluntary Improvement Program operated by the Guadalupe Center has been successful in their efforts to recruit minority tutors. It is important that there is a significant number of minority tutors because a great many of the students in the program are from minority groups. |
