Show THE GREEN SHEET 7B Conservation Day Set For Farmers SALT LAKE. Natural conservation can save resource money, Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Service. The Salt Lake Soil Conservation District is hosting this years field day with help from numerous federal, state, and local governments and private agencies. For more information, those interested may call W. D. Robinson of the Utah Department of Agriculture at or James Barnhill, USU Extension Agent in Salt Lake County, at energy, soil, water, and wildlife. Utah residents can find out how by attending the third annual Utah Conservation Field day, Saturday, June 20th, at Riverton Park, 12765 South and 1400 West. At 9:00 a.m. the day will begin with Congressman Wayne Owens as the featured speaker. At 10:00 a.m. conservation topics will be covered through tours, 533-433- 9 displays, and demonstrations. Farmers can learn about conserva- tion tillage, weed control, surge flow irrigation, and soil moisture management. Land developers and construction contractors can learn about cheaper and more effective urban erosion control measures. School teachers can learn about agriculture and water education for the classroom. Participants can also learn about how they can help save wildlife by supporting Jordan River wetland conservation measures which can be applied on river systems throughout Utah. In addition, there will be a demonstration of a dual water system where irrigation water is used on lawns to save quality culinary water for the kitchen. The Utah Conservation Field Day is sponsored annually by the Utah Soil Conservation Commission; Utah Sate University Extension; The Utah Departments of Health, Agriculture, Resources; and the U. A supplemental food clinic for women, children and infants will be offered Saturday, and again on June 27 at Salt Lake County Health Department, 3891 So. West Temple. All women and children (up to age five) in the county, are eligible for the supplemental food program if they meet income guidelines, said manager Kathryn Pearson. The program, funded by the Department of Agriculture, is designed for those who cannot qualify for public assistance but still need some help in obtaining adequate nutrition,; she explained.
