1 O t Hes He's In Nursing She's In Drafting And They Arent Aren't Lost Either By LARRY ALLRED Being the only man in a class full o f practical nursing students n o 0 longer bothers Michael Moriarty He decided to become a nurse after an auto accident Hospitalized for a month he was in a room with several elderly persons who were quite dependent on nurses After his release his parents encouraged encouraged encouraged en en- him to become a nurse L Last Las a s t summer Micks Micks Mick's doctor made arrangements for him to go goto goto goto to school at Trade Tech enrolling him in the Practical Nursing pro pro- gram He studies along with the girls as though they v were ere never there You get used to it after so long he said The va way r it looks now nov Mick will vill graduate as one of the top students in his class He h hasn't missed a day of school and all his grades have been As A's and Bs Mick said he hopes to work vork in a psychiatric ward Hell He'll be the third man in the history history history his his- tory of the school to graduate in a Practical Nursing class The other two VO men finished with exceptionally good grades Mick joined the Army reserve at 18 with the idea of becoming a cook coole He Ie said he received a discharge because of heart trouble t n n By MARY LOU HANSEN Oh oh theres there's a lady present warn yarn male members of the Trade Tech Mechanical Drafting class when theres there's a chance the conversation conversation conversation conver conver- might drift to man talk The lady is Miss Ursula Leverkus the only girl in a class that includes 17 male students She says she gets plenty of rough competition for grades from male students in the class Ursula thinks shell she'll get a good job when she completes her course and that there will vill be less competition competition tion in the world of business than she gets in her drafting class You dont don't have to be an artist to todo todo todo do drafting she claims Ursula became interested in mechanical mechanical mechanical me me- drafting when she was vas employed employed employed em em- in a printing shop While there she worked at lettering Born in Germany Ursula has been in the States 10 years She resides at Camille Drive in Salt Lake Ci City ty Only two other women have been enrolled in the mechanical drafting class at Trade Tech Miss Leverkus said she receives a alot alot alot lot of satisfaction from her work in inthe inthe inthe the class She has h a s her h e r feminine interests outside the classroom knitting classroom knitting and handiwork A
