Army engineers, is built The geologists will help to determine the extent of damage to the existing mines and future development which would result if the proposed big power dam should be built on Pend Oreille about a mile south of the Canadian border. F. Walthall and S. S. Dilli-sin- g, reported to be representatives of the U. S. Smelting Co., have also been visitors in Metaline Falls. It is thought U. S. Smelting, which made locations on numerous claims on the west side of the river about two years ago, is making investigations preliminary to an exploration program. Exploration on holdings of the Sullivan Mining Co. of Kellogg, Idaho, south of town, of which Ralph Harper has charge, are progressing satisfactorily, it is reported. Formation found in the first hole, which went to a depth near 1000 feet when a cave and water pocket was hit, was reported as being favorable and a similar report - comes from the second hole which is now down more than 1000 feet. Two shifts are working on the drill at present but it is likely another drill or two will be brought in to hasten the work during good weather. Sunshine Mining Co., also of Kellogg, is reported Interested in the Metaline area. W. & MORRIS PETT DBS, BONDS STOCKS COMMODITIES MEMBERS Salt Lake Stock Exchange Chicago Board Trade SALT LAKE CITY. This released 276 miners, all except a few maintenance men, the labor paper said, continuing: The premium price plan corresponded in copper, zinc and lead mining with the agricultural adjustment plan that was evolved by Henry A. Wallace and his father and put into effect by. Mr. Roosevelt as the prime factor of the New Deal. This is too beneficial to now be attacked by either political party. As to economy, the President says it is time to stop subsidies. Does he mean to kill farm subsidies? Reclamation is a subsidy; federal highway aid is a subsidy; harbor dredging" is a subsidy. We have spent 400 million good dollars to subsidize Greece and Turkey, 3 billion as a loan to Britain. We are spending 500 million yearly for Germany, 350 million for Japan.
