also enjoying a visit with the family and friends pat ipson has been in the service since december 4 1913 1943 lie he trained at camp shelby miss and had a furlough home la in may 1944 soon after that he was sent overseas and landed in italy where he was given more training then sent to france with the infantry in tile seventh army he entered combat the latter part of october and on november 22 1944 along with his lieutenant and ten other members of his company was captured by the germans and held as a prisoner pil of 0 f war until april 30 1946 1045 when lie he was liberated by ills his own army after his furlough lie Is to report to santa barbara california for a 30 day rest period and reassignment he reports that the treatment given the prisoners in the camp he was in was not too bad although they sometimes went hungry and would have starved but for the red cross food sent to them every two weeks ile he lost a great deal of weight but is regaining it and outside of being somewhat
