Dingell and George A. Goodling have introduced a bill (H.R, 16005) that would extend the present 10 per cent tax on handguns to archery equipment. Funds generated by this tax would be used for wildlife restoration projects under the Federal Aid in Wildlife Restoration program. Congressman Goodling explained that the bill was proposed to give archers the opportunity to contribute to the future of their sport. The tax would apply only to archery equipment suitable for hunting use. The bill has already received support from representatives of the archery industry and archers themselves. Rifle hunters have been contributing to the Federal Aid in Wildlife Restoration program for several years. Kinda it through makes you through the doesnt it! wanting to anywhere - wonder how youre gonna get loooooong summer vacation, -- kids under foot all day, go here and there or just swimming, shopping, to so and sos house or you end up with a flock of neighbor kids at your house. Then there are three meals a day to fix and all those snacks. Because they were on vacation, our kids thought it was time to have slumber parties and all that, but we put our foot down. So then they decided they would sleep out. In the winter time, sleeping out means making a bed on the floor in the living room or the family room -anywhere except in a nice, soft bed. Ive lost all sense of adventure, I guess, because a hard floor just doesnt appeal to me at all! But the kids are all back in school again and everything is peaceful and quiet again. We have a new member in the family. In addition to our Shetland horse, named Rusty, we now have a gray horse and I guess he has been officially named, Sam. The last one Paul is our horse-name- r. he named was Donkey Ears, which describes' the general appearance of the horse. On most farms, there are too many cows, calves, sheep or chickens (except the very special ones) to give them a name but horses seem to enjoy a rare privilege in the animal kingdom. Even years ago when farms had several horses they were still given a name. With trucks and tractors to do farm work, the horses on farms today are used for riding and childrens pets. ' Many of you who are reading this column can probably think back and recall the names of some of the horses on your farm. Grandpa Roach had a matched black team and they were named Dick and Ted. Dad had a dark brown horse he named Tops which indicated his feeling for her. Another team we had was called Ben and Cap. Hy said his dad had a team named Johnny and Dick and a riding horse named Tony. Years ago we had an Appaloosa horse and because of his heritage he got the name of Tonka. Hy said he also had a horse named Snap, Horses get their names from many sources - their coloring, nature and disposition, from their former owner and sometimes were called a name that shouldnt be repeated.EspeciaHywhen they ran away or stepped on your toe. Years ago, horses meant a great deal to the success of a farm and many were kept for years and years and so endeared themselves to the farm families. Because of this, they were kept even beyond their use and died of old age. So much for horses. See you next week. There are quite a group of kids here in Palmyra that enjoy riding horses on Saturday and Sunday - most of them are shetlands. Some of their names are Pokey (although hes pretty fast Peanuts, Scout and Herman. Another ones name is just plain Horse. nnEGB! kSD T succeed very ,900 thigfrappe FrojifciSa Aandsomeiyjwrappe aqeoljamily enterlainmen aw Of) OrQQ Off) GPQD. nrpfTrv 1970 qcY) "THE GREATEST OF THEM NEW AND BETTER APRIL 15 thru 26 SALT PALACE Phone: (801) UTAHICONCRETEIPIPEICO OGDEN Fri., April 17 Sat., April IB Sun., Apr.
