Show Bishop Open house set Friday night Newlyweds, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald John Bishop, will be honored at an open house Friday, March 9, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Kolob Stake Center, 600 E. 500 S., Springville. Hosts for the event will be Mr. and Mrs. Frank W. Bishop, parents of the bridegroom. The couple were married February 23 in the Idaho Falls' LDS Temple and a reception feted them that night in Nampa, Idaho. Parents of the bride, the former Kayleen Ann DeCoursey, are Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. DeCoursey, who were hosts at the reception. recep-tion. Attending the bride were Barbara Jean and Mary Bishop, and Julie DeCoursey. Wallace Bishop performed per-formed best man duties. The bride has attended BYU. Mr. Bishop is presently on an accounting internship in Boise, Idaho. Elections will be held for a president, two vice-presidents, and a secretary-treasurer, all of whom will hold office for one year. Also on the agenda for Wednesday night is June Searle, professor of elementary education at Brigham Young University. She will be speaking on literature that is being introduced into our elementary and Junior high school classrooms. As a member of the National Council of Administration, Ad-ministration, governing body of the National Auxiliary, Mrs. Mason will represent the States of Utah, Nevada, and Oregon in a special Council session. She will assist in transacting official business of the over 600,000 member organization. The Conference is being held in Hawaii to commemorate com-memorate the important role of Defenders of our Country - not only in World War II, which began at Pearl Harbor -but of all wars. Auxiliary members' will visit shrines, monuments, and National Cemetery in Honolulu. All friends and relatives are invited. She married George Crandall Sept. 11, 1918. He died May 21, 1955. She later Married Elgin Mellor and moved to Fayette. Oldroyds make first home in Springville Christine Child became the bride of Rodney H. Oldroyd in a ceremony performed March 3 in the Salt Lake Temple. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Earl S. Child and Mr. Roland A. Oldroyd all of Springville, and the late Mrs. Faye H. Oldroyd. Following the marriage wedding brunch for the wedding party was hosted by Mr. Oldroyd at the Ristorante Delia Fontana. A reception feted the newlyweds that evening in the Springville Museum of Art. The bride wore a gown fashioned of sheer nylon organza with appliques of lace and pearls on the skirt, a deep yoke of Alencon lace with Cluny ruffles at the neck, yoke and wrists and a deep Alencon lace ruffle on the skirt and chapel-length train. Pearls were fashioned on the lace sleeves and yoke of the gown. She wore a picture hat trimmed in Cluny lace and tulle bow and streamers. Small Spring flowers also adorned the hat. Her bouquet was a nosegay of white roses, carnations, daisies and colored silk flowers with velvet and lace streamers. The general theme of the reception was a Spring motif with flowers and multi-colored ribbons. Attending the bride was her sister Erlene C. Barney as matron of honor and bridesmaids Linda C. Kessock, a sister, Jennilee Johnson, Cindy Hall and Janette Strong. They wore pastel blue gowns of delustered satin, lace and chiffon and carried nosegays of Spring flowers. The mother of the bride, Mrs. Earl S. Child, and sister of the groom, Mrs. Lee Measom, were dressed in pink. Serving as best men were Bill McKenzie and Kendall Oldroyd, a brother of the groom. Ushers were Lee Measom, Lawrence Barney, and Don Oldroyd. Greeting the guests were Mr. and Mrs. Richard J. Child and Mr. and Mrs. Mack Huntington. Special guests were grandmothers of the bride, Esther Johnson and Mae Child. Hostesses were Mrs. Merrill Moon, Melissa Moon, Mrs. Edwin Johnson and Shelli Johnson. The theme of the evening was "Art is Fun and Homemaking is an Art". Brenda Bass made a delightful presentation of various aspects of the theme, pointing out that you really can be creative if you want to and being creative is exactly what makes homemaking an art. She gave an interesting in-teresting demonstration on recycling various articles that normally would be disposed of.
