Show Pnuc 10 EDUCATION .lrirni:irv'22. 20u2 Uintah Basin Standard Uintah County 4-- H to sponsor a Clinic on Showmanship Uintah 4-- getting a jump-sta- rt on the show circuit this season by sponsoring a showmanship clinic in the early spring. The clinic will offer an opportunity for all youth to learn the techniques of fitting and show manship of the three species of livek stock shown at the Uintah Basin show-lamhogs, and beef. Participants are encouraged to bring their own livestock projects to give a hands-o- n learning experience besides reaping the valuable instruction of Darrell Rothlisbcrger. Darrell is the USU Extension agent for Weber County and has instructed youth in showmanship from coast to coast and Canada. His genuine love of raising and showing livestock combined with his love of working with youth, compliments his unique style and the valuable information learned at the Ldve-sior- bs, clinic.. Participants should go away from the clinic with a feeling of satisfac- tion of knowing what to do before, during, and after the show. To help give more individual instruction those assisting Darrell with the clinic are Tanya Holgate, Davin Jaquez, and Courtney Theener. The clinic is open to participants statewide who are currently in grades The clinic will be held March 29-3- 0 at Western Park in Vernal. Mona and Conrad Velez presented the checks to Maxine Gardner and Antonette Appawoo. Mr. and Mrs. Velez had solicited funds from nine local oil field companies to benefit their grandsons classroom. The Lapoint Howlers, a singing group at Lapoint Elementary, auditioned to sing at the Wetaoming Ceremony for athletes at the Olympic Village on Feb. 6. All of the athletes and their coaches will be greeted by dignitaries from Utah, the Salt Lake Organizing Committee (SLOC) and school children from Utah. The children from Lapoint will sing See Us Shine which is one of the songs from the Governors music program for the Olympics. The Expanding Tour Horizons in Science and Mathematics Conference will he held on Saturday, March 9 from 8 a.m. to 1 pm. at Utah Valley State College in Orem. It is cosponsored by the Equity Center at UVSC, the Utah MathScience Network, and BYUb 'Women in Science Center. Women who work in math and science-relatecareen will present workshops for conference participants. Girl will attend three workshops in such fields as medicine, chemical engineering, botany, computer science, molecular biology, veterinary medicine, and others.
