Show Warren Ottley Returns From Chicago Convention Mr. Warren Ottley, of Ottley's Paint Pot at 2157 Highland Drive, has just returned from the ninth annual convention of the Retail Paint and Wallpaper Distributors of America held in Chicago. Warren predicts beiges and brown tones will continue to predominate pre-dominate next year. He thinks that of great interest to our com. munity is the importance of the new in-between neutrals, which are neither gray nor brown, and which usually carry a tiny tone of some other color. These are called the "wandering" neutrals, and take on a touch of the color nearest them in a room, so that they always blend, no matter what the color scheme is. He notes that pink and aqua will continue to be important colors, too, but this year they are a little softer and more grayed. Growing fast in fashion is the use of white in large quantities, for walls as well as ceilings. White affords a dramatic contrast to strong colors in upholstery fabrics and in floor coverings, and white seems to make the walls of a room stretch out, look bigger. It is practical, too, because the new paints retain their finish even after repeated washings. He was really impressed at the new inventions shown at the convention. con-vention. There are splasliproof and dripless paints. And for those homemakers who like a touch of texture without pattern .there are the new textured paints. These are practical, too, for walls in older homes, because they hide minor cracks and blemishes. For the homeowner who loves to do some of the work himself, there are innumerable in-numerable new gadgets and helpful products. Warren especially noted a new kind of small roller for working in corners. There are new and easy products for refinishing furniture, and clear protective finishes that are dull. The year ahead will be the easiest year of all for the homeowner home-owner to bring his home to the peak of perfection, he said. |
