Show CECIL C TAYLOR KILLED IN automobile ACC thompsons Thomp sons merchant and well known young business man sustains broken neck when car turns over cecil C taylor merchant of thomp sons and prominent business man of the county was almost instantly hlll ed saturday night at about 11 0 clock when the car in which he was riding left the road at a point about eight miles south of thompsons Thomp sons mr taylors neck was broken and he died within a few minutes lester walker jr the other occupant of the car who was driving escaped without in jury the two men were headed south on i the moab highway the accident occurred at a detour at crescent wash where a new bridge is under construe i alon neither of them had been over the road tor some time and they did not know that the bridge was out when they approached the detour they saw a red light in the middle of the road placed there to warn motorists of the detour chev mistook this lor the taillight tail light of a fw and completely in ignorance of the danger them they did not slow up intending to pass he car on the wide grade when within a few bards of the barricade thrown across the road too late to turn into the detour road the driver saw their mistake to avoid crashing into the partially constructed bridge mr walker pulled the car sharply oft the grade the car an open model turned over and then righted itself on its wheel neither of the men was thrown from his seat As soon as the car came to a stop mr walker asked hla companion it he was hurt mr tay bor replied no im all right driver with some difficulty freed himself from the car and walked around to help mr taylor out he saw immediately that the latter was injured as he appeared to be unconscious and was breathing hard another car driven by albert beach came along within a few moments and mr taylor was transferred to mr beacha beachs car they had gone towards thompsons Thomp sons only a short distance when it was noted that mr taylor had stopped breathing he ched probably ten minutes after the accident an examination of his body after reaching thompsons Thomp sons showed that his neck had been broken and his right shoulder badly crushed it Is considered re marl cable that he was not killed instantly the body was taken monday to provo the former home of mr taylor and family where funeral services held yesterday the body was buried beside that ot his little daughter naoma five years old who died last spring mr taylor was manager of taylor son a leading business institution of the county owning a store hotel warehouses and other properties at thompsons Thomp sons he was 33 years old and was one of the most popular business men of the county he was bom at payson utah march 5 1895 the son of joseph L and efale when two years of age his parents moved to moab and he his boyhood here when about twenty years old he moved with his parents to provo at the outbreak of the war with germany he entered the service and saw active duty overseas in the battle of the argonne he experienced front line service and was gassed As a result of being gassed his health was poor for several years on his return from franco he and father entered the sheep business and later purchased the thompsons Thomp sons business where they have been located since in 1921 mr taylor married miss ida van of provo to their union tour children were bom three of whom survive their eldest child naoma died at moab last spring mr taylor Is survived by his widow one wanda aged tour two sons max van aged two and a baby the weeks old his father joseph L tailor of thompsons Thomp sons his mother mrs effle taylor of provo one brother lance L taylor of long beach calif and one sister miss pem taylor of thompsons Thomp sons mrs taylor and the children were at provo at the time of the accident the body of the husband and father was taken to provo monday morning being by his father ray van his brother in law and mrs van don taylor tom and reuben walker of moab fiance L taylor brother arrived from long beach in time for the funeral and miss pern taylor sister went to provo sunday from I 1 I 1 salt lake city where she was attending school mr taylor was a member of orient lodge no 15 F A M of green river of salt lake consistory A S R and el kalah temple A A 0 N of the mystic shrine cecil carlisle taylor was a lovable man whose amiable and bighearted big hearted deposition won for him the friendship of every person with whom he came into contact his death leaves a void in the hearts of scores of close friends his sudden and untimely death shock to hundreds comes as a distressing of friends throughout southeastern utah the keen sympathy of all goes out to his heartbroken widow his little children and to his bereft parents |
