Sheriff Brown of This County is Kept on the Stand During the Whole of Wed-nexday Wed-nexday Morning Who Was in That Bufrsy at Iiahi When the Train Wat StolenP The whole of yeeterday (Tuesday) was occupied in giving evidence for the prosecution in the Carter et al contempt con-tempt case before Judge Merritt in Salt Lake city. Jolin E. Hansen and James Anderson of the Deseret News and J. F. Jenkins of the Herald testified to speeches made by and interviews with Carter. Expressions were U3ed indicating in-dicating that the army would ride over the 11- G, W. in epite of all opposition, eaj ing that the United States marshals, police.nor anyone else could stop then. Ricnard Smith testified to the attempted at-tempted seizure by the industrialists of his engine at Bingham Junction on Mav 4th. Alex Wiikins to Carter's refusal to have his men go east in squads of ten or fifteen. Sheriff Brown testified similarly and that Carter in a speech at Lehi said his "army" were going to Washington and that they would not walk either. John War-wood, War-wood, Mr. Harper, Fireman Coppin and Engineer Blake testified to the capture of the train. They all saw a buggy in the distance in which it is thought was Carter, although it is in timated that it contained some Lehi citizens, or perhaps officers. Cheif Fowler, Deputy Sheriff Wiikins, Wii-kins, City Marenal Knieht, Wm. Strong, James E. Daniels, J r, Jas. E. Hall, Telegrapher Cowley, T. E. Thur-a.an, Thur-a.an, Boman Cannon, Deputy Marshal Dyer and O. W. Norrell testified to the incidents which occurred here on Saturday Sat-urday last.
