Show WEEKLY VIS NEWS JOURNAL, FEBRUARY 5, REFLEX-D- A 17 Services Held Exchange Student Going To Australia Monday in the Chapel of Flowers Mortuary with the BPO Elks No. 2338 Past Exalted Ruler Joseph A. Barney Jr. officiating. Interment was in the Aultorest Memorial Park. and family at Munyard Croyden, Australia for one week before living with the assigned families. This will give her an opportunity to become acquainted with her new customs and cultures. SHE WILL attend the sixth Form at Boronia High School, which is the same as the 12th grade of high school in the United States. Judi is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Davis Sanders. Her father is presently serving as president of the Kaysville Rotary Club. TO BE selected the Kaysville Rotary club had to submit names of candidates to JUDI SANDERS Judi Sanders, 17 of 194 North 200 East, Kaysville, has been chosen as the Kaysville Rotary Foreign Exchange student to spend the next year in Boronia, Victoria, Aus), tralia (20 miles east of where she will reside with two families, six months with Mr. and Mrs. D. Macramara and six months with Mr. and Mrs. Colin Couper and families. Mel-borne- SHE IS being hosted by the Boronia Rotary Club of Australia and sponsored by the Kaysville Rotarians. Miss Sanders was bom in Agana, Guam. She attended Kaysville Elementary School; Helen Estock Elementary School at Santa Ana, Calif; Kaysville Junior and Davis High. She will graduate from Davis High this spring and also is a three year graduate of the Kaysville LDS Seminary. WHILE AT Davis she has served on the sophomore and junior class committees; staff while a junior and Editor-in-Chiwhile a senior. She has been on the honor roll two years and high honor roll two years. She also took classes in advanced math and English. Miss Sanders will be among 58 Rotary Exchange students leaving the United States from Los Angeles, Calif, on Feb. 6, 1976 for Australia and New Zealand areas. The group will return Jan. 2, 1977. Requirements include 75 percent attendance at all meet- ings and being a registered scout for four years. Jeff is a junior at Clearfield High School where he is a member of the schools swim team. He was named out- standing for swimmer November. as HE HAS served president of both the deacons and teachers quorums of his ward. He has resided in Lay-to- n since the age of two, and has an older sister and younger brother. HE WAS bom Sept. 30, 1917, in Clayton, N. Mex., son of Sam K. and Minnie Lee Wadkup Solomon. He married Virginia L. Rich on Aug. 11, 1957, in Beach, Calif. Pis-m- o HE WAS reared and educated in New Mexico and Texas. He served in the U.S. Army during world war II m He had the Asiatic-Pacifiworked at the Railway Express Agency in California for a number of years and in 1951, he started work at the Norton Air Force Base in California. He transferred to the Ogden area in 1965, and retired in 1970. He was the founder, charter member and past Exalted Ruler of the BPO Elks No. 2338, in Roy; a member of the c. Weber Masonic Lodge No. 6 F&AM. He was a 32 Degree Scottish Rite. Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Layton and former member of the Roy American Legion. Funeral The Syracuse Utah Stake Quarterly Conference will be held on Saturday evening, Feb. 7 and the second session will continue on Sunday, Feb. 8. Theme of the conference will be The Family and The Home. THE SATURDAY evening session will be held at the Syracuse Utah Stake Chapel on 2700 South 2000 West, Syracuse. Those who are expected to attend in addition to the stake presidency, high council, executive secretary, and stake clerks, are Priesthood quorum presidencies, group leaders, and secretaries. All ward bishoprics, executive secretary, and ward clerks from each of the wards and married couples and parents in the stake are also expected to attend. The Sunday session will be held at the Ogden Tabernacle in Ogden. All stake members are urged to attend and visitors are most welcome. Care of the flowers was by the Chapel of Flowers Mortuary. dc Know Your Religion Series Date As part of the continuing Know Your Religion Lecture which is sponsored Series, by the Church Educational System-Ogde- n Center, Robert J. Matthews will present the first of his two lectures on Saturday, Feb. 7. THE TITLE of this lecture will be, Reading and Enjoying the New Testament. His second lecture on February 21, will be titled, A Walk Through the Bible with the Prophet Joseph Smith. ALL LECTURES are held at the Ogden LDS Tabernacle, 2133 Washington Blvd., from 7:30 to 9 p.m. The public is invited to attend and may register for the lectures at the door. Dr. Matthews received his B.S. degree in secondary education from Brigham He Young University. received his M.S. degree and his Ph.D. also from BYU. an editor course writer and researcher from 1964 to 1971 for the main office of Seminaries and Institutes in Provo, Utah. Dr. Matthews presently serves as Associate Professor of Ancient Scripture at Brigham Young University. Dr. Matthews has been a bishop, served on three high councils, and is presently a member of the Adult Correlation Committee of the Church. HE Sarah Kershaw SHE WAS a lifelong resident of Layton and was educated in the Davis County schools and Weber Academy Mrs. Sarah K. Kershaw Adams, 86, of 600 West Gen- tile Street, Layton, died Thursday in the Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City of heart failure. of Ogden. She was a member of the Layton Fourth LDS Ward and had been an officer in the Primary and a Relief Society visiting teacher. She was a member of the Hollyhock Camp, Daughters of Utah MRS. ADAMS was born Aug. 17, 1889, in Layton, a daughter of Schofield and Rebecca Maisey Kershaw. She was married to Del H. Adams on March 17, 1914, in Logan. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mr. Adams died Nov. 11, 1970. of Homer Brighton, music specialist for the APYMMIA.
