Story Lodge No. 4, A. F. & A. M., has hitherto maintained that character: may it ever so remain, and the obligations thus be not broken or its fair name stained by improper language or intemperate habits. While we have made advancement, we have also lost members whom we much respect, whose business has called them to other parts of the country: thus our loss in that respect has been the gain of other lodges. Wc have also recieved and are receiving affiliates, who come well recommended, bringing tiding of good fellowship, and those who have been raised from darkness to light we trust have received that light they sought and will continue to remember those beautiful truths taught them and the purity of their own characters, that no blush of shame may.be seen on a Masons brow by intemperance in any of us. Thd Angel of Death, as it passed, has left its marks on the lintels of our history and his thrown its mantle of sorrow around us, as in all families, as it passed in its flight by tbe side of Time: and in remembrance of our dead as we drop the silent tear, may we let fall also all remembrances of the imperfections of our brothers in the past, remembering only their goodness, usefulness and virtues. 1 will not refer to each brother that time with his schy the has so unceremoniously mowed down and summond to the Grand Lodge above but in losing them and our respected worshipful master Brother II. Randall, who so faithfully worked for'tbe interests of Masoury and this lodge in particular, whose character is well worthy of emulation, we must bow to the decrees of life and the Omuipotaut will, Who, brethern, among us can tell what report may be made of either of us ere the next Masontc year has closad, but when the gavel sounds and death bids us to be still let us be ready, and that as we have here met upon the level, that when the scroll and evergreen acacia be dropped upon our bier we may have indeed parted as true to every principle, of Masonry and as perfect ashlers, tried and proven by the square. On the 19th Instant a special meeting was held at Masonic Ilall, when tbe following officers were installed by Past Master Robert Bee: W. M , James W. Cook; S. W., G. W . Shores; J. W., D. It.
